Not the best subs (but you also look to the bench and wonder what else), but the players have to be accountable for that.

Lucas and Johnson can get to, let's call this the tin hat.

Ahh well. The dream is gone, but it was good whilst it lasted. Thank you BR and the squad for pushing it this far. We fucked up today pushing for goal difference. Yes, it looks naive now, but it was the sort of daring-do that put us in a position to fight for the title. I'm very proud of our team. Now I'm going to weep into a drink.

I agree with that, but at the same time, simple organization and leadership for our back line would have won us that game, and quite a few others that we drew or lost too.
I really don't think it was any coincidence we conceded so few goals in the second half of last season when Carra came in. He'd never have allowed us to go so deep after their first goal and would have screamed and woken up any player that went into a shell.

my god, i'm sure this has been noticed already but gerrard's 'this does not fucking slip' speech is pretty ironic considering his slip for chelsea's first goal. can't help but laugh.

Its fucked up but i know what you mean, i laughed when Palace scored the 3rd, out of astonishment and just knowing it was coming.

The players looked mentally fucked after the second went in.
You knew the third was coming.

Rodgers will have to take the blame along with the players. We didnt make the right subs and leaving us so outnumbered at the back is just poor.

Johnson and Lucas are not good enough.

Not sure why but this hasn't upset me as much as I thought it would have.
The Chelsea game is the one that fucked me up emotionally. Once we lost that, I knew it was over. This just confirmed it.

Agger should have come on. At 3-1 we should have put brakes on. Needed win more than goals

That was really poor from Mr Rodgers tonight. Once the goals for was gone we needed to hold it and we pushed far too many players forward.
It doesnt change much though we always needed city to lose one and we still do.

I'd rather lose on points than goal difference, but we should NOT let a 3-0 lead slip.
We were putting pressure on City with getting the 3 points. They still needed to win their last two.
All the talk of goal difference was not a good move.

Our midfield was all over the place after the first goal went in. We desperatly need to add some quality.

We've missed Henderson so badly these last 3 games.

draw maybe...

We should have been 5 or 6 up even before we unluckily conceded the first goal. Suarez missing an absolute sitter, Sakho a simple header, Moses missing a great chance, Sturridge's greed on the ball losing us a great opportunity and so on. Blame all round I'm afraid. Yes Rodgers was naive and yes the subs were wrong but Coutinho came on and did SFA and Sterling didn't have his best game, neither did Flanno. I thought Johnson did very well pushed forward but running up and down all match was going to tire our FBs out in the end and they needed help.

Ming : 7
Flanno : 5
Sakho : 8
Skrtel : 6
Johnson : 6.5
Gerrard : 6
Lucas : 5
Allen : 7
Sterling : 7
Sturridge : 6
Suarez : 7

Coutinho : 4
Moses : N/A

It isn't a Plan B we need so much as the willingness (on Rodgers' part) and ability (on the part of the players) to tweak Plan A. Putting the main emphasis on attack is fine - it's what got us this close to the title - but there are certain games, or certain times in games, when you have to back-pedal a bit. We didn't, and it's something we have to learn.

I thought Suarez and Sturridge were poor. Allen was class all game.

If Agger played from that Chelsea game and onwards we would have won the league, that's all I have to say.

A win tonight and a City draw would have done us.

i am a million miles from being a massive lucas fan but in this case it's painfully obvious he's struggling alot as he can't play the position . he doesn't have the legs. The henderson loss has been massive and highlights how we need more depth . It's fair to ask though did we really need to play lucas there ? Were there no other options especially considering he's not done well there for a few games now

And you'd be wrong, as we still would have lost against Chelsea, and the goals today came down the flanks.

Modo. Seriously. Now is not the time for agenda bollocks

That defending for the 3rd from Skrtel was absolutely abysmal.

Never dare to hope. Seriously, it's not worth it.
