I've only just got home from the game after leaving JonFoxy and SpionKop. We were debating town but decides to be sensible for once.

Can I just say about Steven Gerrard.

That's fucking it, against them cunts. He does the business. First name on the team sheet. I'm sure I said as much when all you cunts were calling him last week.

That's our captain and what he does so fuck off.

Gonna be some comedown this

Stevie was fucking immense tonight...played like a man possessed.

Gonna play devil's advocate here though and state he's only capable of them major performances every so often nowadays?

Not trying to be a cunt about it...just not getting too excited about one performance he put in when he's been struggling quite a bit this season...he is 33 afterall. He just can't be superman as regularly nowadays.

Reading back through the threads and I'm dishing out likes like a motharfucker.

Fucking Beaming.

Had Kevin Mirallas backed to be sent off. Thought he was going to walk at some stage. Very good player but a bit cunty.

Suarez had so much to do to hold off two players and slot it home. He showed a serious turn of foot to evade both defenders. It would have been interesting to see if Distin could have caught him.

Sterling is a little dynamo. He now has the confidence to burst into the space in front of him and I trust him to work backwards to help out his FB. He was very close to MOTM for me.

Gerrard was fucking boss. Winning headers, clattering cunts, making blocks, scoring goals and celebrating like a mad man. Awesome.

Coutinho's ability to carry the ball for us on the break is really important for us. I love how he can relieve pressure from the back line and carry the ball into dangerous positions. His best game of the season.

We have two world class strikers. They deserve CL football next year and I hope we give it to them.

Ally McBeal was once again a bit of a car crash at LB. Thankfully Coleman wasn't playing to expose him. He doesn't stop the ball coming in from his side and allowed the winger/full back get his cross in time and time again. He can't bring it out of defense, he can't help out in attack. He takes a few throws and makes up the numbers. He had a nice tackle at one stage the led to a goal kick but that's about it. Seems a nice lad though.

Alberto got minutes in the Derby. Yaaaah. There was nothing that was going to dampen my mood. Even Moses joined on the act and looked interested when he came on. Slick Ric is alright with me.

I wonder if Everton want their change back? Suarez must have collected enough for a match program.

Great performance. I was dreading today but I really wasn't expecting that. 10/10 tactically.

Everyone was great there I thought. I'd go more in depth but everybody has already said it all, and more eloquently, than I ever could.

Just gutted about the penalty. 5-0 would have been amazing.

- Well that was fun

- So it turns out 4 lines of players is better than 3, who'd have thought? Heh. The 4-2-3-1 was beasty.

- Coutinho's best performance since the first 45 away to Swansea. Told you his best position and form for us was in the #10 behind Sturridge.

- I've got fuck all to say about Suarez & Sturridge. They're absurd. And only Suarez would nutmeg somebody and then dive on the edge of his own box.

- Studge's flick up, knee and volley'd through ball to Sterling in the first half was outrageous though by the way.

- Helped by Martinez though I will say. You just can't pick players who aren't 100% in these things. Jagielka wasn't fit (England can't possibly play that guy in a World Cup can they?), Pienaar was way off the pace, and whilst Barkley huffed and puffed, it broke down too often with him. We launched counter attack after counter attack from him losing it and us springing forward.

- That's how you referee a derby too by the way. Thought we shaded some of the decisions, but he let it flow and kept his cards in his pocket for the first 30-40 mins. The game was the better for it.

- Really impressed by Brodge hooking Studge too. Fuck that selfish shit, if you're gonna waltz about like it's all about you then you're rightly gonna getting dragged. Really impressive by Rodgers, and vindicated by Studge's post game mea-culpa. That's management.

- Solid solid performances by Flanagan, Henderson, Toure, etc.

- Immense performances by the front 3, Skrtel and the skipper.

- And that's why as Piedro say's "play him in games like that". Just outstanding all over the ground. Disciplined, monstrous, imperious. Thought his post-game "i'll take the responsibility for that" admission to save face for Studge's penalty miss was leadership personified too. Could have hung the kid out to dry, but he took the flak himself. He's a good sort our captain.

- And he can play that #6 role too. So long as there are two midfield lines we'll be fine. I rate all the midfield options at the club - Lucas, Hend, Allen, Gerrard - we've got guys there who can play across the 4 midfield positions. I reiterate what I said last week; we don't necessarily need to sign another midfielder.

- But we do need a left back. Dear God that lad's awful. I'll spare the abuse cos we've just battered the blues, but for the love of God is he the best we can do? It's like his brain hasn't caught up with his feet.

- Alberto comes on as a sub, the ball's pinged at him straight away, he dummies it, turns, accepts the pass back, and waltzes one with the outside of his foot 50 metres across the pitch to Moses' toes. Like. A. Baws.

- Mirallas lucky for the second derby this season not to have seen red. Top footballer though, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

- And finally Sterling. Derided by many on here or a long time after a dodgy few months, but he's the embodiment of what talent combined with good coaching can produce. Dilligently following the best left-back in the country up and down the park for 90 minutes, could have had a couple of goals himself, and a quality attitude to boot. We've got a 10-15 year winger there, and they don't grow on trees.

I'm referring to this result as a "BRENDAN RODGERING".

true but it seemed very extreme on this occasion with multiple hand gestures

It did seem extreme and over the top. Coutinho did the same, I might add.

I've said it before, though, this is what makes Suarez what he is. He's an absolute winner who's not satisfied with his team thrashing someone 7-0 unless he's got three of them. His is the sort of manic hunger which will drive teams he plays for to the top and that's why we need him so much.

Roy Keane wasn't the guy that his team mates loved or cherished but he drove that club to one of the greatest in world football simply because he refused to accept anything less. Suarez is a similar type of player - with a great deal more skill. You have to deal with the abrasive side of their character if you want to stay with them on their journey to the top.

I was trying to find that "Would you rather have Suarez or Jelavic" thread...

Did they shut down the forums because they were in full meltdown mode?

I think almost everything's been covered but a couple of points:

1. There's a heap of posters on here who need to go take a look at the first few pages of the match thread and give yourselves several upper-cuts. What a pile of utter, self-indulgent, vacuous bollocks. Luckily Rodgers doesn't listen to the hysterically challenged - it's just forced on the rest of us.

2. I'm as guilty as anyone else of condemning our left back. I said on his first performance that he wasn't even as good as Traore - he at least has a CL medal. Over the last three games I've come to realise that his defending is not that bad. He's just so bereft of ability when the ball's at his feet it's hard to see him in any other light than Bambi walking on ice. However, while his positioning could certainly improve he's actually quite good at closing down opponents, his pace helps him greatly and he's got the agility to turn in more directions than Inspector Gadget. We desperately need someone at LB who can do something with the ball at his feet but at least in defence he can do a job.

3. Gerrard was a force of nature and, once again, we see why he should not be taking corners. Regardless of how good his set piece skill is he's one of the great goal threats from any direction and his drive for the ball in that first goal was something to behold.

4. If Sterling can add a clinical edge to his game and start slotting these chances then we've got a potentially all time great on our hands. His strength on the ball is fantastic for anyone let alone someone his size. His acceleration is alarming, his work rate first class and his trickery on the ball is a pleasure to watch. Goals is all that's missing.

5. Henderson works as hard as anyone I've ever seen on a football field. He makes Dirk Kuyt look lazy.

6. Sturridge is a seriously good footballer. He can play the most stupid passes on occasion but he's got some serious skills quite apart from his finishing - which is becoming world class. We all said he had some work to do on his attitude and that remains the case but he's well and truly worth working with.

7. Nobody but nobody has got more drive and desperation for success on a football field than Suarez. I don't know if he's better but his passion and desire to win is more even than Ronaldo - which is saying something.

An awesome result and it's going to be interesting to see what we do with the arrival of the Chavs, City and Arsenal to Anfield. Beating any of them would be no surprise. What would define us as true contenders is to beat all of them.

Just read through the match thread on an Everton forum. Very amusing.

I hope Villa were watching last night because the last thing Everton will want on Saturday is to face another counter-attacking side. Hopefully they can do to Everton what they did to us in the first half the other week.

What a performance from Stevie G ... Dominant.

What a massive statement from the team.
Stevie needs that kind of performance consistency week in and week out. The same can be said of the whole team. I loved the intensity. This was a massive win. Loving it!

Now to maintain that type of intensity against the likes of the Gooners, Citeh, Utd and the Chavs. Turn them all over and there is no limit to what we can achieve.

.

Although technically speaking, the '1' in that formation isn't a line, so the formation was really 3-lines-and-a-dot. Just saying, before Dantes gets to work on you.

Im not sure which one of the posters digs out the MOTD highlights but apart from a crappy 1.30 goal highlight video i havent seen any of the game.... could that very helpful poster weave his magic again please...

Try to watch the full match if you can. It's worth it.

@doctor_mac
We did it again!! We fucking called it - and like fucking clockwork magic it happened!
We are the only real reason that Liverpool are fucking brilliant! Yay us!

The boys let us down a bit DS. Every time we have allied our prediction of a rout we've scored 5. Sturridge has a lot to answer for.
