PLAYERS OUT

We had 40M to spend in Jan and we spent it all on a forward we didn't need. You could say 40M is not alot of money in today's context but we could have brought in 2 midfielders, even one would make a difference. Look at how Bajetic has made a difference, and how Hendo & Fab has continue to struggle.

It's just bad management. The fact that Klopp had insisted 1. We had no money to spend and 2. We didn't need a new midfielder, and going into his mini tantrums is weighing on him badly. I struggle to listen to him these days.

Not being funny but what 2 midfielders could we have bought for 40m that would've improved us? Jack Colback and Harisson Reed?

I agree that 40m would've been much better off spent on a CM but maybe the reason we didn't was because all the players Klopp wanted I.e Jude Caicedo Enzo commanded a fee twice that?

I’d be giving consideration to any big money offers for Trent the way he’s played this season. What the fuck is he doing week after week

Pretty much strolling around the pitch not giving a fuck, as talented as he is with the ball at his feet he's just one mother fuckin' lazy ass player who abandons 90% of his defensive duties.

Welcome to SCM by the way, best forums in the world.

I said this earlier in the season and nobody wanted to hear it but he's turned into our version of Pogba, he just does what he wants when he wants. His head is up his own arse.

This is the first time I'd consider playing him in midfield even though I still reckon he'd be fucking shit there. But everyone else (apart from Bajcetic and Thiago at times) has been so bad we might as well try something completely different

The problem is juergens just not changing anything other than the players. After the hammering at Napoli he said that’s it, everything changes now. Yet 2 games later it was back to what wasn’t working and he’s stuck with it.

These players have stopped listening to him. He needs to be ruthless this summer with the players and the owners.

Exactly. And again after the Brighton 3-0....nothing's really changed since other than the players (midfield).

We've kept our shape and not overcommitted as much but it's largely the same inept shit.

Do wonder if Klopp regrets signing that new contract.

Another thing Momo was right about. We should’ve sold Firm in 2019. Mane was sold a year too late and we are stuck with a £15 million a year anchor around our neck.

Mane should have been sold a year earlier? So by that logic you're fine with us not winning two trophies, reaching the CL final and finishing 2nd in the league?

Absolutely not. He knows what the long term picture is. He wouldn’t have signed otherwise.

Fair question, but the idea wouldn’t have been to just let him go and replace to the benefit of the squad. We may have gone better with more bodies and fresher legs. Let’s not kid ourselves, Mané had periods where he couldn’t beat a man or trap a ball. He wasn’t prime Maradona.

Or Mane's contract should have been sorted a year earlier. Just like many other contracts we managed fuck up.

Sure, we've missed Mane but as far as I know, he made it clear that he wants to go to Bayern and the club was like "ok cool you were great for us and won shit so we won't stand in your way if we get a decent offer". Dunno how much does this have to do with his contract situation though

Besides, he hasn't been all that in the Bundesliga anyway, has he? You could argue the move made sense for everyone

Seems like people are desperate to "fiigure out" why we're shit by pinning it to one selective thing. One day we're shit because we're missing Mane, the other day it's because Trent doesn't defend, then it's Nunez missing the target etc. While, in reality, it's all down to Evil Pep being a cunt by publishing that fucking book

I am not a professional football scout obviously but there are plenty of examples of competent midfielders that costed 40m or less. Odegaard, Guimares etc, fairly recent transfers. What are our scouts for if we are only buying players every other clubs in the world knows of and wants.

I mean we can't just pick out Gakpo as the sole reason to say our scouting network has fallen to pieces....the guys been here a month.

If the scouts weren't asked to pick out midfield options there isn't much they can do about that...they don't advocate to management what's needed, we have to assume Klopp is content with our midfield options.

We then moved Mane into the centre because Jota’s dead and Bobby doesn’t actually exist any more - and we replaced him with Nunez, who has still not sure what country he’s in or who he’s playing for.
Hahahahaha

Enzo Fernandez went to Benfica for £10 mill of the Nunez robbery and he’s going to Chelsea for £120 six months later so there’s defo more midfielders out there

Maybe we should make it clear to him where in which country he'll be playing in the summer if he doesn't score 40 goals between now and then.

All it takes is a good scouting network and a bit of nous. Something it seems we had until fairly recently. We seem perfectly capable of picking up £40m forwards like they're 10 a penny, so I'm pretty sure if we did our homework we'd find a quality midfielder.

A quality midfielder, sure. But the right one?

Klopp is loyal and protects the owners, I mean they have treated him really well. £3m house rent free, basic salary of £15m, a huge coaching staff, brand new training facility and a job for his wife that probably pays her a few hundred Ks a year
If we had got a MF, people would be moaning about why hadn't got a FW with Salah going through his dry patch and Nunez still settling in on top of Jota, Diaz and Bobby all out.
The issue is why do we only have £40m? We know the club could get finance to borrow more without FSG having to dip their hands into their own pockets. It may the case the finance has been arranged for the summer window

The club is being sold, taking on debt makes that less attractive for any new owner. FSG won't be interested in arranging any new finances

Who knows if its being sold or they're looking for minority investment. Not making the CL, wouldn't that impact the value?
