Plan B

Rodgers has plenty of plans within his squad. His side is one of the most fluid in the league, and he isn't afraid to change things. Unfortunately, once we conceded the players and crowd became very anxious and pushed a little too much, looking for space which wasn't there.
The only thing I would have liked to have seen different was Sturridge to come on earlier. He wasn't mobile or fit, but their back line was very deep and static. He could have occupied their CBs and released Suarez to drift outside the box a bit more. Every time the ball fell to one of our players in space 20-25 yards out, it was always to someone who can't strike a ball well under pressure. Coutinho, Allen, or Sterling. Gerrard had a couple of efforts which were blocked or went straight down the keepers throat.

Plan b is having game changers on the bench.

Add some quality in the summer and we won't have to worry about a plan b

Agree with this, if a plan B even exists then its having good options on the bench.

Rodgers is the most flexible proactive manager in the league and people harp on about no plan B, it is a pretty clueless thing to say and think, even more so after we have won 11 on the bounce and as soon as we lose one it gets trotted out.

We were not even all out attack yesterday either like people are saying, we were under no pressure and fully in control of the game until the fuck up, its such a shame because Chelsea would have opened up during the 2nd half as they had to get the win but the goal mean't they could carry on what they were doing.

My only complaint was we chased the game to much and tried to play down the wrong areas of the pitch. We needed to down the wide areas more and try to inflict damage that way. We were never going to slice up a 6 man defense with 3 defensive midfielders in front of them. That isn't a plan B, IMO, and the players should have been smart enough to address that on the pitch. Suarez should have pulled out wide and tried his trickery and guile to make something happen out there.

Rodgers was hindered by his lack of pace and crossing ability of our fullbacks and his lack of decent options off the bench. We could have done with Benteke yesterday to help get thee ball over the line. Rodgers certainly isn't to blame for the result though. As gut-wrenching as it is, Gerrard is most accountable for the loss and for the implications that has in the title race.

I hate to draw this parallel but Ginsoak's teams never failed to up the ante when they were behind. Till the final whistle they would be trying to push the ball up the field as soon as possible and not wasting time during free kicks, throw-ins etc.Sometimes they would get caught on the counter and concede. But I have too many memories of the opposite happening where they draw in the final few minutes of Fergie's time. That's what I call grinding out a result.

Our build-up even after going a goal down was way too slow at times. It was as if we knew we were going to score somehow, so why not just take chill-pill and let it come naturally.

I dunno, I'd say that we normally do what you're describing, and actually we didn't this time.

One of the things I've been impressed with this season is how (Sunday being the exception to the rule) we look a lot more capable of dealing with teams that park the bus. Whereas in previous seasons we've struggled to break them down and got increasingly more desperate as time goes on, this year we've been patient, played the possession game and allowed the creativity and the movement to open up space.

We've known that the goal would come, so we haven't had to be too craven about it.

Against the Chavs we became increasingly more desperate and less composed, trying to force it a little too much rather than playing our natural game. It didn't help that they had a higher quality of players on the pitch, but I think we didn't help ourselves either

[article=http://www.newindianexpress.com/sport/Liverpool-Plan-to-Catch-City-With-All-out-Attack/2014/05/05/article2206939.ece?]What Rodgers will not do is compromise his ideology. His theory is if Plan A is not working, an increase in the speed of passing, movement and creativity is what is required to make Plan A more effective, not a Plan B.

"I saw the analysis that Gary Neville did on us," said Rodgers. "As an example he showed Manchester City scoring late on in the game against QPR in 2012. What he didn't mention was that Vincent Kompany, one of the best centre-halves in the world, passed it in to Yaya Toure, one of the best midfielders in the world, who passed it into Sergio Aguero, who is one of the best strikers in the world, who passed it to Mario Balotelli, one of the best young players in the world, who gave it him back and Aguero scored. You have world-class players right the way through the team. We are trying to build that. For me, that was part of the frustration. We needed something else to change the [Chelsea] game."[/article]

Where was Mourinho's elusive "Plan B" today against Norwich?
*Masterstroke* my fucking arse.

What?????? You mean he didn't stick a CB upfront and get them to hump it long???

Maybe his royal specialness has a plan C.

*swoon*
