Blood Red: Pepe Reina proving Liverpool FC captaincy could be in the right hands in future
Apr 24 2010 by Dominic King, Liverpool Echo
MANY players leave Anfield in the blink of an eye after games but, on Monday evening, Pepe Reina proved again why he is a one-off.
With the clock ticking to 11pm, temperatures dropping and a two-day trek looming, Reina could have been excused had he wanted to head straight for his car but instead a game of five-a-side between the substitutes caught his eye.
So, getting out a can of Red Bull and finding himself a seat on the touchline, he spent 10 minutes watching the game and encouraging his team-mates. No wonder, then, Steven Gerrard has tipped him to be a future captain. He is, without doubt, a class act.
