Looking good so far against Lazio, playing off Vlahovic as the 2nd striker (what Italians call fantasista).

Juve’s 21 year old midfielder Nicolo Fagioli caught my eye. Superb technique and understanding of space. A bit Pirlo-esque even though he’s playing further forward in this game.

The problem with Chiesa - other than the fact that he's Italian, broken and destined to fail should he ever put on a Liverpool shirt - is that he seems to score a lot of his goals cutting in from the left on his right foot. At least so it seemed in that compilation. Looks good on the right wing too and not too shabby with his left foot but still.

Enrico Chiesa’s son, 25, right-footed but equally good on both wings. Potentially world-class wing-forward; the only downside with him is he’s returning from a major injury absence that kept him out for a big part of 2 seasons. All eyes are now on his physical condition after the comeback - if he’s back to the pre-injury levels, £54M he’s been quoted for would be a bargain for somebody. There are not many wingers like him; maybe Mane is actually the closest in terms of what he brings to the team.

He was immense and the stand out player when they won the Euros. For me, the player of the tournament.

He's like what Nunez should've been.

Big, difficult to shrug off the ball, direct, menacing, pacy and powerful.

I'm trying to think who he reminds me of. One of them old school Serie A greats.

Luigi Riva perhaps and, if so, it's a good comparison IMO. I remember thinking Riva would have been suited to English football, but players swapping countries was rarer then than it is now.

Chiesa is a fine player but a crock, currently anyway, and I won't repeat myself on why LFC signing an Italian player would be the triumph of hope over experience.

Salah deserves eternal gratitude and praise for his form the last few years. But this year he's fucking shite and deserves dropping.

Why be so defensive over criticism of a player out of form? He's not the be all end all
Top scorer, top assists. Ya fucking shite 😀

Only seen him in the highlights but his footwork really reminds me of Suarez. Wow.

Injury prone, plays on the left. Checks all of our boxes. Welcome to LFC, Chiesa.

£3 million.

That’s what he’s earned from the the two pay days since he scored or assisted in the league.

I was too lazy to do it as a rolling line graph average but if it were the issues are even more stark and protracted.

How many left footed right wingers are there in football now that are promising, young and available? Seems like the hardest position to fill at the moment, compared to the left wing.

He can't hardly get control of the ball these days, and he is beating no one even though teams are just defending him 1v1.

Poor.

I read something like 12% are left-footed, so there is that.

He’s still a top top talent. But, he’s off form and playing in a team that’s just playing awful football.

Put him in Arsenal’s team and watch him run riot.

The entire team needs to be sorted. When it is, I have no doubt he will come good.

Why do you play top money for a player who can only 'run riot' when a team is sorted?

This is the key point. For the money he is getting, he should be delivering top quality performance week in week out, irrespective of how others perform. Moppy Torres was performing better than current Salah.

If his performance deteriorates significantly based on how others around him perform, then we should not be paying him that salary. Atleast we cant afford to do that.

I get that, but it’s hard to play well when you’re surrounded by a huge cloud of malaise. I’m not ready to write him off yet.

If you can only perform when your team is on song, liverpool cannot afford to pay you as if you can. Not giving up on him but his contract was just another in a long line of poor decisions that will have us completely out of Europe next year if he doesnt provide the value his contract says he should, regardless of how well the team is doing
