Palermo are set to launch a revised bid to sign Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva, after failing in their attempts last month.

It is understood that Roy Hodgson turned down a £3million offer for the Brazilian, who has since captained the club several times in pre-season action.

Hodgson is thought to be keen on keeping Lucas on at Anfield, especially with the impending depature of Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano.

Palermo however are expected to prepare a bid of around £7million to tempt the Reds.

Despite Liverpool’s rejection of their offer last month, Palermo sporting director Walter Sabatini says he still hopes to resurrect a deal.

“There is a dialogue with Liverpool,†he said. “I believe there is room to negotiate.â€

We're going to have to buy a lot of midfielders pretty sharpish though, if we do sell Lucas and Mascherano. I know Gerrard and even Aquilani can play there, as can Shelvey, but none of them are DMs.

Well Masherano may stay .. especially if the money comes in (won't help his wife though) ... but lets assume he goes :

Gerrard
Poulson
Aquilani
Shelvey
& a top quality MF with the Masher cash.

Looks good enough to me - Sell !!!
 
I'm happy for us to sell Lucas, as he's obviously not very good, but if we're selling him and Mascherano, shouldn't we be getting a move on with buying some CM's?

I don't wanna see Gerrard playing so deep all season, we need him further up.
 
It makes you wonder what sort of midfielder Palermo are looking for?

I don't want Poulsen but if we sell Lucas then Defour or Banega is a must with the cash.

Lucas will not be sold. Not for seven anyway.
He is viewed as a first team member and will be played week in, week out.
Let's just get used to it.

thats a good price adn would represent good business for the blub but i just cant see us selling Lucas and Mascherano in the same summer so i think it will be knocked back unless a midfielder like Parker with Premier league experience and available for a roughly similar fee is lined up before hand, I cant see that being the case. I wish it wasnt so but i expect Lucas to be a regular in the first team next season
 
I'd rather see Lucas stay than sign that fucking hack and dickhead Poulsen.

I can't stand him.

Kicking players when officials have their back turned, punching players in his own box blatantly in front of the referee and thus giving away a penalty.

I really hope this guy doesn't put on our shirt.

Knowing our luck though, we'll accept the bid only for the Cunt to disagree personal terms, just like Insewer.

Why the hell doesn't Rafa make a bid for him? There's no way in hell he'd turn down a chance to play for his adopted dad.
 
3 million? Obviously someone has been reading these forums....

I dont think the lad is that bad.. Recouping what we paid for him would be great though. He came as a starlet - Brazilian player of the year so there is no wonder we paid a fee which could be described as a little on the steep side..

It was a gamble worth taking but unfortunately he is rather unspectacular - I wonder if things could have been different under another manager... Rafa tended to have a lot of players play within themselves and look for the simple consistant option rather than developing world beaters..
