I assumed it was because people think it's a bit of a Ruperty type of poshy wanker name. Some cunning fans discovered it was his middle name and feel it's somewhat emblematic of the social distance between him and the common man/fan.

I'm making all this up, obviously.

Not as pathetic as Roadhouse2 though young oncy, which your thread the other day encouraged me to watch the other night - if there was a football equivalent it would be that long ball pumped over the top at Ewood Park, with Sean Dundee puffing and panting to get after, and then it whacked him in the back of the nugget...... without the humour, but with all the realisation that those involved are in the worng career.

Re: 'News from the Web' - Wednesday - Updated

Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari has shrugged off speculation over a possible move back to the Premier League.

The Ghana international, who formerly played in the English top flight with Portsmouth, has reportedly attracted interest from Tottenham and Liverpool.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp worked with Muntari while the duo were at Fratton Park, and it is understood he is keen to renew that partnership as he assembles a squad capable of challenging in the Champions League.

But the 25-year-old is adamant he is happy to remain at the San Siro, where he has two years left on his current deal.

"I'm staying. I have two years remaining on my contract. I love the city, the club and I'm sure about staying," Muntari told GTV.

"I had a great relationship with Jose [Mourinho] and I know it would be the same again with a new man in charge.

"Now, we have another great coach, [Rafael] Benitez, and I am looking forward to working with him."

Valencia playmaker Ever Banega is eager for Liverpool to swoop for his signature, according to Las Provincias.

Benitez's departure at the start of the summer could have derailed any potential move, but it seems new supremo Roy Hodgson is understood to have maintained the club's push for the Argentina youth international and could be ready to add him to his squad.

A bid of around £8.5 million is believed to be enough to push cash-strapped Valencia into a sale.
_________________________

According to reports in the Turkish press and quotes from the player’s agent, Tottenham have opened talks to sign Galatasaray’s star man Arda Turan. The talented winger has been a long-term target for both Arsenal and Spurs in recent seasons but with Arsene Wenger’s interest waning, it would seem Harry Redknapp is at the head of the queue. However, Spurs are not the only top Premier League club thought to be tracking the star as Roy Hodgson has identified the Flying winger as a priority signing for Liverpool and the player himself has often spoke of his desire to move to Anfield.

Turan’s agent Ahmet Bulut declared, “At the moment I have had no contact, unofficial or official from Arsenal or Arsene Wenger. Regarding Tottenham Hotspur there was a small enquiry regarding the player, but I have had no official contact or an official bid for the player.

“So, at the moment Arda (Turan) has two years left on his contract at Gala. And, we are waiting for an official bid for Arda from Tottenham. We will see.â€

Despite his interest in moving to Anfield, White Hart Lane may be a more likely move this summer with Spurs ready to spend. However, Hodgson is a keen admirer and knows Liverpool need more flair on the flanks and may invest in the flying Turk once Javier Mascherano is sold to either Inter Milan or Barcelona.

That's true, they say it's a disease too. AA seems to work for people though so what ya gonna do?

Get something on those lips mate, cracked lips are a terrible thing. If your lips are in bad condition for even a week it can cause a permament behavioural change in terms of how often and how broadly you smile (you become conditioned). This in turn effects the way your kids turn out and their feelings of self-esteem when they suspect you're not that happy they're around. I expect a lot of porn stars have dads with dry lips. Ironic in a way.

I was gonna open a separate thread on nectarines but all I want to say is that I just ate one and it was just astonishingly, and I mean ASTONISHINGLY tasty, like a naked mardi gras on my taste buds. It's almost enough to make me believe in a God or Gods. Some food is just amazing and I think nectarines are right up there.

He's also renowned for making Stan Collymore look like a positive influence in the changing room.

I gave Road2 the benefit until they started bastardising the great mans lines about the 3 rules of cooling - then dropped the remote in disgust!

Thats right, keep moaning about it all and Roy will magically no longer be manager. We get it, you don't like him Bren but nothing can be done about it now. Going on every day changes nothing, other than irritate.

Besides, we all know you hate him because he sees lucas as a useful first team option
But that's exactly what happens in football. If enough people make it known that he isn't the right man for the job, eventually he will be removed. He isn't. He will be.

And I don't a merry fuck what irritates anyone.
What's more irritating is pretending that Woy is here for any other reason than to keep Cecil happy and not cause any trouble.

So far, so good Agent Woy.
Let's not pretend that had Kenny come back, it'd have been for footballing reasons either.

Given the instability, the sort of manager we were going to bring in necessarily was determined by finances, and we would have a higher profile, better list, in normal circumstances.

You aren't arguing they should have kept Rafa.

You aren't arguing that our current situation could attract top level managers.

What exactly is your point? There ARE valid footballing reasons to select Hodgson over Kenny, given the latter being out of the game for a long time.

If you boil it down, sometimes it seems your point is just the weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. If I was running LFC, I would want someone who was willing to accept the situation and not cause problems, because it's the least the club needs while its trying to get sold. That doesn't make that person a yes man if they accept the circumstances, it means that they are aware of the parameters. People seem to be saying that Kenny should have been hired, so he'd speak up and resist the owners. Why would anybody hire someone to cause them problems?

I am exactly arguing they should have kept Rafa

Given the list of likely options to replace him, I would have stuck with Benitez

Because he was the only one who had ever won anything

I assume you accept that Rafa would have kept Lucas and Insua, which means that you'd rather have them in the team than have Roy Hodgeson as manager.

Roy was appointed because that's the best we could do. I agree the club is in a shit place right now, there are a number of people who, it seems to me to be almost forcing themselves to be positive in the hope that it means they will enjoy the coming of the new season.

There are however a number of people on the forum, the majority who would have 'predicted' the same things you have 'predicted' but not been so fucking miserable and cunty about it as you.

Right now Roy is here to steady the ship, because due to the fine margins in the game and playing at the top end of the game within a season our ship is fucking wrecked. The point of Roy coming in is to calm shit down, he kinda did a similar role at Inter (although yes I fucking know it was a gazillion years ago) but that's what he does and as a result I'm ok with it (NOT over the moon, not fucking jumping from the rooftops happy about it) but just OK.

Players will no doubt play a little better this season, there will be a number of players who underperformed last season and they will perform a little better, Lucas, Babel, Insua will not turn into world beater cos Roy puts his arm around them but they will improve a little as will the team. Will it be enough for 4th place? I doubt it as City will be stronger....but at least let a brother dream (even if it is a shit dream).
Wrong Kenny was/is better.

Not only for the Club but because the 'feel good factor' he'd have brought would have lifted everyone and we would all be a friggin hell of a lot more positive right now.
You woud have been a whole friggin lot more positive cos we had a guy who was a great player in charge of the club?
Feel good factor is great but it doesnt translate to any knowledge as a coach, granted Roy is no world beater but he is a coach who has been coaching regular and premiership for the last decade or so.

Also, I know lots of LFC fans particularily older fans have this nostalgia about the bootroom and old legends like Kenny, Souness et al and this romantic vision of the beautiful club the adore and love and breath and what not, but I wonder if that would translate and hit a chord with the 99% foreign players at the club?

The board asked Dalglish to assist in the search for a new Manager, having looked at the candidates he applied for the job as he thought he was most suited to the task.

Having entrusted the selection of the best candidate to Dalglish, the board then ignored his advice when he said it was him. A confusing decision.

Why would anyone hire a football professional to find the football Manager best suited to the task and then ignore it?

I accept that Rafa is a better manager than Hodgson, or any of the candidates.

But, he hasn't shown he can work on a limited budget, at all. He had disastrous transfer dealings for two seasons, and there's no question he had no answer whatsoever to fixing our form. Rafa as a manager, in our context, at this time, is not that good.

It's not a matter of who, in some broad sense is a better manager, it's a question of whether you think it's likely Rafa turning it around was likelier than Roy Hodgson doing a competent job.

I'm sure the Inter players will see Rafa coming in, think about his success as a manager over the years, and have some assurance in that. I'm sure that Roy Hodgson will not give LFC players the same level of assurance, especially given the broader issues at the club. What I'm not sure on, is how Liverpool players would have felt seeing Rafa back again, after last year, and seeing him implement the exact same stubborn things that didn't work last time around.

Because they had already discounted him as an option. If you were told to advise your boss on filling an empty position in the company, would you be surprised to learn you weren't seriously considered for that job?

So maybe *you* should fuck off, and leave our captain where he is

And take Benitez with you

So, almost as exactly as predicted.

10 defeats in the Premiership.

City winning

18 points behind United.

Benitez: go and fuck yourself, you massive shithouse

He should have played my team. Again.

Benitez is so utterly finished at Liverpool FC
.

Thanks for the Europa Cup - now fuck off

Give a shit. He can fuck off. And so can Benitez.

Benitez can go and fuck himself, this is insane

Thanks for the Europa Cup qualification - now FUCK OFF

Haha, how many of those cunts out there tonight are a disgrace to the shirt?

Bye Benitez

Benitez, and all of the slow, rubbish players he has brought to the club. They can all fuck off
.

I have long given up on this season, and by extension, Benitez himself

Benitez - Go away. Resign. Whatever

if Benitez can't deliver a Top 4 finish and a good fucking run at this too, then he can go and fuck himself

You can see why we're confused right?

Yeah, Farky, great point. Cecil is about as well-positioned as you to make that call about Kenny Dalglish and his suitability as manager

If they don't know him, which I don't think most would then how would it give them a feel good factor.

Right, and as soon as I knew Woy was a likely replacement, I went with Benitez

Because some options are *more* shit than other options

And if you want to do 'let's make a cunt out of flip-flopping hypocrites' we all know who is going to lose *that* game
