Trippier is nowhere near Walker's level and doesn't benefit Poch's system in the same way.

Spurs fans are bound to say they prefer Trippier anyway, they're deluded grandiose fuckers!
Spurs fans say Tripper is by far the better crosser (suits Kane) and better in possession/distribution, however Walker is faster and better defensively.

With Baine and Sigurdsson, Everton will score a fair bit off setpieces i would reckon.
Leicester might have something to say about that (though if I was Sig. I'd go for Everton too, the way they are flashing the cash this Summer).

Trippier was the dogs danglies last season, he's clearly at walkers level and the better all round player .

Excellent crosser , a better defender than walker and still very handy going forwards , it's not even up for debate as things stand

Not even Spurs fans think that. Probably due of his lack of pace.

Wasn't Walker widely considered to be the best (attacking) fullback in the league last season?

I'm not sure how much trust you can put into "their own fans say", we generally don't agree on most players, even some cut and dried ones. There was a bunch of people who thought Sterling wasn't as good as Ibe.

Both had 5 assists, though Trippier's in a 1/3 of the matches Walker had (0.15 per game vs. 0.42) but only 1/5 of the minutes. However defensively Walker is miles ahead (Walker vs Tripper per game : Tackles 1.61 vs 1.08, Interceptions 1.09 vs 0.42, Blocks 0.21 vs 0.25, Clearances 3.03 vs 1.25).

Converting those to 90 mins metrics instead of per game still sees Walker well ahead in most stats although Trippier now has a better 'blocks per 90 mins' stat and even better attacking stats.

Spurs are just doing what (most) selling clubs do in this situation when losing a player to a rival.

There a few on here this forum proclaiming the virtues of Jordon ibe after we sold sterling. Fans are always looking for a silver lining.

Well that depends on whether there is a consensus or not and whether it's backed up by facts, which, as I've shown above, it is.

There will always be outliers. But if the majority of fans are in agreement over a player (as they were over Sterling/Ibe), I think it's a very good measure. They watch them week in/week out after all.

They can improve with £50m with Trippier stepping in for Walker. They need to bin Janson off and sign a decent striker, IMO. Other than that their squad is very solid all round. It's unsurprising Spurs haven't been busy in the market.

I was hoping Madrid would come calling for Ali. How Levy is keeping Ali and Kane happy on less than 100k per week is anyone's guess.

The new stadium might mean they have to sell to buy this summer?

Anyway, I have a feeling this season wont be to good for Spurs. Playing at Wembley etc. Fucking hope they struggle.

This tweet is probably deleted already then...

Plus he's got a blackberry?
Clearly that's the reason he's moving so he can afford a proper phone

Walker's move to Man City announced officially. Tidy profit for another successful signing from lower league (signed alongside Kyle Naughton). Sheffield Utd stand to earn a windfall of £5m thanks to a 10% sell on clause.

That's got to be one of the worst value for money signings ever. £50m for a 27 year old bang average full back who cant cross, never scores and is totally reliant on pace to bail him out of trouble.

The most interesting thing about the signing is that it shows Guardiola's putting all his eggs in the "all-out attack" basket. Whether that will work in the Prem remains to be seen (to say the least). I wonder whether he'll survive if they don't win either the Prem or Bigears next season.

Who is better than Walker in the Premiership?

I've met very few neutrals that will put Clyne ahead of him, for example.

I wouldn't myself in terms of all-round play (sadly, because Clyne used to be mustard going forward as well and seems to have lost that) though for me Clyne is easily the more reliable defender, not constantly relying as Walker does on raw pace to get himself out of trouble when he leaves gaps behind him. Even so, in City's shoes I'd have looked abroad when the time came to replace Zabaleta. But then I prefer my fullbacks to be good defenders first and good attackers second, whereas Guardiola clearly has other priorities and Walker fits neatly into those.
