Haha  you're funny Rebel.
Houiller is just under the minister in the hierarchy,
He's basically the most important person in french Sport.
And its very debatable that we play better football under Rafa. GH didnt have the money to buy the likes of Torres.
You know Im not defending Houiller, He had good times and then failed. I wanted him to go in 2003.
Exactly like Rafa. They shouldnt be treated differently.
That should be Rafa's last season
No it shouldn't. The comparison is completely flawed, Houllier bought crap, failed to build a good team etc. Benitez has built a good team that has been ravaged by injuries and depth limitations from above. He has done a good job every season he's been here on the 4th/5th highest wage budget.
I cant believe Im diffending GH but here we go... Wasnt the 2001 team a good team?
The similarities are there for everyone to see. No debate, not even for a Rebel.

Don't worry, it will stop once Rafa wins the league.

So good the year after Basel knocked us out of the CL

So good it failed to win the league before the Russian arrived at Chelsea

Fiorentina is knocking us out of the CL
It still failed to win the league Rebel

it's completely different to the level we had under Houllier and it's more competitive environment.

The comparisons are flawed and until you admit that simplistic comparison is flawed it's just not worth arguing with you. As I said, if a new manager came into Liverpool (not that one should because there's no one else who can do a better job) he wouldnt need to ship out nearly a whole squad and he'd have to hope the Americans back him (which they wouldnt) otherwise he'd do a lot worse than Benitez and then you'd be moaning again.

Mourinho would have won the league with that team last year.

lower level spanish league

no idea what rebel's been smoking - houllier also had his fair share of good players on a limited budget - infact one that pretty much won the champions league

i agree the comparable with houllier is unfair - i don't remember houillier winning 1 in 10 but then i suppose the likes of birmingham and fulham have made the environment more competitive

Of course you've ignored the post where someone explained that the players you listed as being sold and not replaced either wanted to leave or were not good enough. You've got no hidden agenda though have you?
How do you know that? it's a load of nonsense. Mourinho should have won the CL with this 95+ point winning league team but he didn't. He was knocked out by Rafa.

Mourinho if he managed Liverpool probably would have bought some terrible players and blamed everyone but himself because he wouldnt have the resources to hide it, then he'd be off to whoever flashed enough money at him when he got sick of Moores or the Americans

No, it didnt win the CL, it took Benitez to come in and BUY a few decent players like Alonso and Garcia (one he subsequently sold for £30m), if Houllier could buy decent players we would have achieved a lot more and who knows he might have still been our manager.
Yes indeed. Usually by people trying (and usually failing) to show that Rafa must go because, he is in fact, Gerard Houllier in disguise.

Like I said before, no player is bigger than the team. If Mascherano wants out, sell him for top dollar. Buy David Villa with the proceeds.
Bob Paisley would have won the league last year too. So what's your point?
My point is we can have a better manager who would do better than Rafa.
too many people are saying "no one would do better than Rafa with these players and owners"
Thats bollocks.

We became a selling club under Rafa.
We sold Alonso...and that's it
Crouch, Keane, Alonso..
replaced by who?
Rubbish post.

Crouch was also offered to stay but couldn't be guarantee to play every week because of Torres. Keane, although a very good footballer, did not cut the mustard at Liverpool.

Alonso (and Crouch) wanted to go. It looks like Macher also wants to go. Attributing this to Liverpool is a selling club is utter nonsense.
Also, Alonso, relaced with Aquilani.

*wonders if Le Chacal will keep dodging this bullet*
We'd have won it had we signed Arshavin instead of Keane.

Its always going to be a problem replacing top quality players like Alonso and Mascherano. There no denying that. Now with Javier gone all but a foregone conclusion, shouldn't we be changing our style of play by getting in David Villa to partner Torres and letting Gerrard return to CM.
Well why not?
He said many times he loved our club and that he would gladly come back to manage a club in England.

how did Ged do in Europe, compared to Rafa? Is your sly dig meant to imply you'd rather have Ged in Europe over Rafa?

I don't remember Ged's worst run with Liverpool - or if it was as bad as what we're having - because it was so long ago. The grass is always greener on the other side - just look at the wonderful youth system Houllier had set up (he's an expert in that field supposedly) or how many of the players he left Rafa in the 22-27 year range still play at a high level ... Yah ... Unfair comparison and all.
