Valuation of players?
I think so, yeah, besides I'd be really surprised if they let go of Busquets.

It'd be nice if we could do as we did when Alonso left.
But he's a defensive midfielder and they'd have Yaya AND Mascehrano ... Surely you cannot rotate so many players in central midfield and keep them happy? Arsenal, btw, are snooping around Assulin -

What really annoys me is this talk that his agent has already settled on personal terms. What the fuck? He is our contracted player!

Tony Barret said this is bollocks.
Marcotti also said this was bollocks and started beating up on a famous journalist for being a shit-stirrer who he essentially accused of sensationalizing for the sake of column inches. There's obviously something to it, but not as much as the gossip columnists on the nationals would like there to be.

I hope he goes in January.

This season looks like it's a write off already, so we might as well get rid and bring in a couple of top class replacements now if possible.

At least that way we'll get to bed in the new guys, and i suspect that Mascher would look after number one whilst he's waiting for the summer to come around anyway.

Yeah because loads of top class players are available in January !

If we're out of Europe I reckon we take the money in January also. If we don't get a replacement until the summer that's fine, as long as we take the time to get the right player instead of rushing into a situation were we buy some dud for £15 million.

Get rid. If we have to start from scratch again then fair enough. It's sad, but if they want to leave then fine

Spend all the money on dzeko!

I reckon that if there is a pecking order, Busquets is ahead of Yaya.

Saw that about Assulin as well - Yossi should put in a good word.

I doubt we'll be able to find a decent replacement in the January window.

Keeping til the summer at the very least is within our interest.

We became a selling club under Rafa.
We sold Alonso...and that's it
And the hundreds of shit players Benitez has signed.
'Selling club' has always been associated with *having* to sell players cos they wanted to move on/cos you can't refuse the cash, not selling shit players who wouldn't have made it in the squad/team

Crouch, Keane, Alonso..
replaced by who?

There are so many similarities between Rafa and Houiller...
GH finished 4th in his last season. Rafa has to do the same at least.
And he'll be gone.

I know, it was just a slight attack on his buying policy.

We're not a selling club but it is slightly concerning we can't keep hold of some very decent players.

You're joking arent you? :-\

we play much better football than under Houllier, Benitez buys better players like Torres, Mascherano, Aquilani, Johnson, Agger, Alonso (name me a player who Houllier sold for £30m?) etc. Houllier also didnt have Chelsea and Man City spending shit loads and raising the bar

it's nothing like the same

If Benitez left he'd walk into another top job whereas Houllier runs a french academy. I wonder why, perhaps because one of them is a much better manager

Rubbish post.

Crouch was also offered to stay but couldn't be guarantee to play every week because of Torres. Keane, although a very good footballer, did not cut the mustard at Liverpool.

Alonso (and Crouch) wanted to go. It looks like Macher also wants to go. Attributing this to Liverpool is a selling club is utter nonsense.

So Benitez has in fact sold players.

Compelling insight Le Chacal.

Their reign - or the end of it - is very similar
We didnt buy 20M players under GH either...
Houiller is the France National Director of Football (Directeur Technique National)...thats not really a french academy

the reign is nothing similar, we play better football and are more competitive in a more competitive environment. If Houllier had the nouse to buy players like Torres he would have won the league back then but he doesn't (which is why he now runs the french academy), he bought shite that needed mostly shipping out and replaced wholesale.

Very impressive than on Busquet's part - I remember seeing him last year and thinking, 'Yah, what do they see in him?' ... but now he's been capped by Spain and just seems like he 'belongs' in a team of stars.

The one thing I really like about Guardiola is the fact he has NO problem giving kids a go ... It's a wonderful trait of his and it's paying off dividends ...

Wrt Assulin - he idolizes Yossi, so if he has to move, I hope .... Yah, let's forget about it.

Haha  you're funny Rebel.
Houiller is just under the minister in the hierarchy,
He's basically the most important person in french Sport.
And its very debatable that we play better football under Rafa. GH didnt have the money to buy the likes of Torres.
You know Im not defending Houiller, He had good times and then failed. I wanted him to go in 2003.
Exactly like Rafa. They shouldnt be treated differently.
That should be Rafa's last season

No it shouldn't. The comparison is completely flawed, Houllier bought crap, failed to build a good team etc. Benitez has built a good team that has been ravaged by injuries and depth limitations from above. He has done a good job every season he's been here on the 4th/5th highest wage budget.
