Oakley Cannonier, how good is he?

It's clearly an absurd amount of goals scored, but I won't start to get anything close to excited unless he has a successful loan at a decent level, I.e the Championship

We have to remember that the a large percentage of the players he's playing against won't make it at a professional level, and majority will be scattered amongst the lower leagues.

The one's I've mentioned, K Goedan , Blair and Oakley all have a small frame, so that concerns me. Balagizi and Polish Matt do have the right physical frame but I wonder why they haven't been loaned out?

From what I've seen of Cannonier he is an excellent finisher but he doesn't seem to match the epitome of what our ideal attacker looks like. A lot of his goals seem to be from goal-poaching areas and the huge number of goals he's scored also need to be balanced against the utterly inept defending of some of the teams he's scoring against.

I'd err on the side of 'going to fetch a few million for us' than going to be a ready made replacement.

We've had others like Adam Morgan and Bobby Duncan who scored for fun in the youth team.
Don't want to sound pessimistic, but it doesn't always pan out.
Then there's Sterling...

Sterling though looked head and shoulders above everyone else when playing at that level. Never though Curtis Jones was anything other that average when playing in the u18/u23s and also never remember trent as a stand out player so like wtf do I know about judging players

Oh Trent stood out...even Gerrard mentioned it in his book.

He looks like a typical little goal poacher. Not the sort that you tend to see flourish at PL level these days.

Personally I'd be surprised if he makes it with us.

From what I've seen Kaide Gordon is far and away the best of our young players. He's the most promising since Trent and Sterling. He's got all the pace and technical ability you want in that position, wonderful balance, and plays with his head up.

In contrast, Harvey Blair looks nothing special to me.

The other ones they speak highly of are the defender/midfielder Bajcetic and the winger/midfielder Bobby Clark. I haven't really seen that much of either, though, so I'm just going by reputation.

Trent was a funny one. I first heard about him absolutely ages ago, as this amazing young 14 year old already training with the first team.

And he was always captain of the England youth teams. He was obviously extremely highly rated in the game.

But actually watching him in u18 games, he never really looked that outstanding imo. Certainly nothing like Sterling. It was only when I saw him playing for the first team at like 16 that his class was just clear to see.

He might have, just didn't to me when I use to watch the youths on streams. Probably moreso because he was a RB. I remember liking serg canos but didn't think he'd make it with us. I'd suppose its the attacking players that stand out more to the average Joe like me
