Barcelona have reportedly agreed a deal with Borussia Monchengladbah to sign young German international keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen according to Spanish source Marca.
The Nou Camp side will have been actively looking for a new custodian the moment current number one Victor Valdes surprisingly announced his intention to leave the club having turned down their offer of a new contract. It is believed that the Spanish international, who’s current deal comes to a close in the summer of 2014, will be on his way at the end of the season, hence the Catalan club’s push to bring in a replacement as soon as possible.
Stegen has two national team caps to his name and is into his third season at his home town club and is considered one of the hottest prospects in German football.
Valdes’s decision to leave Barcelona is certainly something of a surprise. The 31 year old is into his eleventh season at the club and has made 487 first team appearances and collected five La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns.
