From soccernet:

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has again insisted he will set no return date for injured captain Steven Gerrard - but reiterated that he is happy with his progress.

Steven Gerrard has made just four Premier League starts, plus two as sub, since March

The club announced on November 1 that Gerrard was undergoing treatment for an ankle infection after he was pictured with a protective plaster cast over his right foot. He suffered a cut to the ankle in training which became infected.

Gerrard had only recently returned from a groin problem that kept him out of action for six months.

It was suggested in a statement released by the club that he could return after the international break, but he was not in the squad for the win at Chelsea. And Dalglish revealed that Gerrard will not be rushed back as it approaches a month since he was sidelined.

Dalglish said on Thursday ahead of the weekend meeting with Man City: "Like we've already said, we are delighted with the progress he's making and we've said that we won't put a date on his return - and we won't put a date on it now. We are very happy with his progress. Everyone is available (for Sunday) apart from Steven and Jack Robinson."

Meanwhile, Dalglish is yet to hear from Lille about any potential deal to make Joe Cole's loan spell permanent.

The French side's president Michel Seydoux said they could make the 30-year-old an "interesting offer'' to keep him full-time. But Dalglish knows of no negotiations between the clubs as yet aimed at making that happen.

"He has never spoken to me. I don't know anything about it,'' said the Scot. "I know they won 2-0 (against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League) and the lad hit the post and is playing well - but he's been playing well most of the time.

"It is great for Joe he is doing so well but beyond that I don't know of anything that has happened.'

ha ha

I'm only messing. gerrard is a big loss for any team, he had loads of injuries at the start of his career and now it looks like he is going to have loads of injuries at the end.

With Gerrard's injury problems, i reckon we badly need another midfield dynamo.

Just can't see Stevie being fit for a sustained period of time to be honest. 🙁

I wonder who was harping about another midfielder last summer when everyone else was praising our transfer dealings.

The quotes from kenny makes me suspect it is exactly the same infection which fucked him up for so long this summer.... worrying stuff.... I know weve been without him for ages but i think we are really missing him.

I thought he was superb against Man U.

[/quote]The entire site was harping about it when Meireles, Cole, Aquilani and Shelvey were all fucked off.

True. Didn't you list our central midfield players after Meireles was sold?
I think that's when people starting noticing how badly it looked.

I already mentioned that we were lacking a "creative midfielder" as soon as Aquilani got binned.

BTW, Shelvey is still too inexperienced and I really can't burden him with the same responsibility carried by the other senior midfielder in the squad.

Did he have an infection during the summer? Thought he was just recovering from the Groin Op?

Actually thought he was pretty poor against United, but that free kick just reminded us all of what a player he is.

He's still someone we hugely rely on, and it's gut wrenching that he's missing so many of our matches.

Gerrard, to me, seems finished. I really hope I'm wrong because it would such an underwhelming exit from what has been a attention demanding career. I hope we get him back to his best.

Sad to say, but now's the best time to start reshaping the team such that we will not have to depend on Gerrard again.

If we had kept Aquilani that would just be more company for Gerrard on the sidelines.

I do hope that Gerrard can get over these problems but to be honest this latest one seems rather odd doesn't it? Surely if he just cut himself in training the medical team would have dealt with it there and then and stopped it becoming infected? Sounds pretty basic!

Yeah, it seems very very strange. An infection!? Again!?

I have a strong feeling there's more in this.

Aquilani would have been a good option against Norwich etc if he wouldn't cope in the bigger games.

You missed it Gary, after the operation he was suffering from an infection which delayed his return by months, you also missed his excellent performance against the Mancs as well 😉

Fucking miserable, thinking he'll be forced out of the game through injuries over the course of a few seasons

What a player he is. Fuck it, keep him on contract and wheel him out for the mandatory number of appearances for him to collect his winners medal for us and lift the trophy in 2013!

Aswell as adam and lucas are playing at the moment, we need a true heir to his throne ASAP
