NextGen Series

Whether they cheated and got caught, or cheated and admitted it, justice was surely done when the withdrew from the competition.

the word is spurs fielded 19 players when the rules clearly state you can only field 18. I'm inclined to think next gen gave spur the choice to leave with dignity in tack or be booted out in disgrace.

Hopefully Ngoo is on the bench and Morgo starts.
I'd play Adorjan just behind him. Suso and Raheem on the wings. Coady and Shelvey in midfield. Hopefully Robbo and Flanno as fullbacks.

Good chance to further their education with a game against Barca/Ajax. I assume Joao Carlos Teixeira is cup tied?

Ha !

i was at the game with mr moo, was a great performance by us and we were desperately unlucky to lose; have to say i was dreading a late equaliser, though, because i've never been so fucking cold in all my life.

have to disagree with Modo re Suso being the best player. surely it's as clear as day that Sterling is our best prospect by a long, long, distance. he had a quiet opening half hour, but after that was the best player on the pitch; just absolutely destroyed their right back time and again. has a little way to go with his final product, as you'd expect of a 17 year old, but he's one of the most talented english youngsters i've seen in a long time: all the pace, skill, trickery, and balance in the world. i wouldn't be surprised if he made the odd appearance this season, if the circumstances are right at some point.

thought are other front 3 were all good in certain ways, less so in others. Ngoo's finishing was laughably bad: he reminded me of a centre half getting a chance when up for a corner or something: just looked completely nonplussed in front of goal. i'd say Silva and Suso both have better chances of making it, but wouldn't bet on either. Suso has no physical attributes to speak of, so that's a massive disadvantage in the PL, and Silva... well, i like him, but he's definitely a bit short on class.

not sure about Coady. i doubt he has enough about him to make it as a central midfielder for us - maybe he could be a bit of a utility player. Wisdom and McLaughlin both look to have every chance, though: both obviously have the desired mix of athleticism and technique.

I don't know what your point is.

My point is they made a mistake, realised and owned up - not "cheat and got caught" as you put it.

With that I was referencing the match itself and not the situation. Fans and pundits and like often get caught up with who deserved to win a football match, which is often nonsense. As Agger recently said, anything can happen in a football match and those who take their chances deserve to go through.

I agree. in a knock out competition whoever goes through deserved to win, that said, we absolutely BATTERED them.

Which ever way you want to phrase, the point is if you cheat, you can't deserve to go through.

Anyway it's a silly argument...

Last night only confirmed what I knew all along.
Suso is the best player in that team.
[/quote]

Behave. Sterling was head and shoulders better than anyone else on BOTH teams.

the word is they had 19 in the squad and you are only allowed 18. it's entirely possible the 19th player wasn't even on the bench which is ridiculously harsh on the 16 players on the pitch and bench.

So? You break the rules, you get caught (or you admit to it), you get thrown out, and you deserve to. Everyone involved knows the rules, or at least they should do.

I don't get what the issue is.

Who was behind it all?
The only player with brains in that midfield is Suso.

I don't have an issue with it but I do feel sorry for the spurs kids who played because the 11 on the pitch won the match.

were you there then Neil? does that also mean you're based in London? if so a few of us have started meeting occasionally in Clapham (could be wherever, though, really) to watch games. see the London Reds thread in general chat - there might be a meeting for the Spurs game on monday if enough of us can make it.

anyway, i'm just not buying this line from Modo that Suso is our best youngster. yeh, he's talented, and basically had a good game on wednesday, but even then he faded horribly before being taken off. at this stage i'm not even sure he should be playing ahead of Adorjan, although i can see why he does because he seems to have the greater potential. Sterling has a far better chance of making it here imo: i'd put him at 90%+ to be a first team player in 5 years, with Suso no more than 30-40%.

peterhague - Neil doesn't know shit about the London Reds because he doesn't post outside of the FF.

I alternate between liverpool and london, it just so happens I was in london for this game, so next time let me know and we can hook up for drinks 🙂

post it in the match thread as I rarely visit general chat 🙂

anyone who thinks suso had a better game than sterling is crazy. raheem was the best player on the pitch by miles. that said suso was quite good first half but faded badly.

Neil, you NEVER visit GC.

post some comic threads and I may start 😉

is it just me or is themn a tad obsessed with neil?! or at least seems highly irritated by him...

anyway: neil, i'll let you know whenever a meeting's being arranged, but what do you mean you alternate between the two?! where do you actually live?

I live in london but spend some time in liverpool so it depends when I'm available.

themn is cool and the anger is part of his charm 🙂
