Suso and Raheem are running the show.

Ngoo is a terrible finisher. Heskey Mac 3
I know they are your two favourites Modo but you can't mention them without talking about Silva who is causing Spurs huge problems down the right side.
Very true. Silva's been great. He can be bit selfish though.

Silva's horribly inconsistent though. He's very Babel like– one day he's a livewire, the next six he's a headless chicken.

At the game and it's freezing. The front 4 of silva, suso, sterling and ngoo look very good. Ngoo finishing is woeful though.

thought the boys were very unlucky. they looked solid at the back, neat and tidy in midfield and dangerous going forward (with exception of ngoo - who's finishing was awful). very impressed with sterling, silva and suso (although the latter 2 faded in the second half). enough chances to win 3 games let alone 1 - similarities with the first team in the early season then. if sterling keeps progressing, i would hope he is given a chance next season.

Me too, he deserves to be getting run outs next season, I hope they spend from now until then bulking him up.

I find it a little stange the reserves play a different formation to the first team. does that make even a little sense?

For all his talents I do feel that Sterling's decision making needs to improve and he tends to hold onto the ball a bit too much at time, a bit like Pacheco.
His finishing is Suarez like at times as well, either poor or sublime, it seems.
He is still a very exciting prospect though and has the potential to be a superstar.

I thought Coady had a good game last night too, quietly effective all night. Something about the way he moves on the pitch reminds me of Gerrard, though they play different roles on the pitch
Does to me. I can't see the sense in a manager sticking to one formation at all times despite the opposition & team available.

The players in the reserves may mean playing the same formation as the first team is just not workable.

I think players of any age should be able to adapt to any formation, within reason.

Last night only confirmed what I knew all along.
Suso is the best player in that team.

barca has 4-3-3 at every level in their set up. it's ingrained and when they are introuduced to the first team it's second nature so slot right in.

Yeah but they're not a patch on us.
heh heh.
we play two up front in the senior team and I think if we'd gone two up front last night we would have one comfortably. we are training ngoo to be a lone striker. why?

Well last night it certainly looked like they were playing 4-2-3-1, which the 1st team play 90% of time

What impressed me last night was how direct sterling was, he has the pace and the skills to beat his man. I just hope he is given a chance, because he is a damn sight better than the weasel downing. Re: coady, agree with what you said, quietly goes about his business with no fuss.

We have been reinstated to this competition as Tottenham have withdrawn apparently.

Liverpool FC through to Semi-Finals after Tottenham Withdraw from the Tournament
We can announce today that Tottenham Hotspur have decided to withdraw from the semi finals of the NextGen Tournament following an inadvertent breach of a competition regulation.
A spokesperson for the NextGen Series, said:
“Following conversations with senior Tottenham Hotspur officials, we have agreed to accept their withdrawal from the semi final stages of the event.
This is hugely unfortunate and we are sorry to see that such a hard fought encounter as witnessed at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night should have this conclusion. However, we can only applaud the Club for demonstrating such impeccable levels of sportsmanship and for acting in a manner which recognises the good spirit of both the Tournament and the game itself. We thank both clubs for their help and support in making this first year of the event such a success and we look forward to welcoming Liverpool to the semi-finals.”
Liverpool Football Club will now progress to the semi final stage where they will face the winners of the FC Barcelona versus Ajax encounter which takes place next week, 8 th February 2012.
Tottenham Hotspur will return to the NextGen Series next season.

It's hardly 'justice'. They scored more goals than us, whoever does that deserves to go through in football. Which is exactly what half this board were saying following our United victory.

Except they were not caught. The gave up the information to the organisers, admitting a mistake on their part.

They went on to wish us well in the competition. Fair play.
