Re: state your unpopular football opinion

Most of the time, I actually hate football. I hate the people involved, from the players to the fans to the officials to those in charge of running this shizz.

I hate that this the working mans game is played by people being paid millions a year to play most earn more a week than the supporters (who are the ones who eat, breath, live and die by the game) do in a decade.

I hate the greed involved in the game, the people who have sold their sole for the money.

I absolutely detest the people who have been handed the honour of running and organising the game for the public and who on the whole are unable to organise themselves of a paper ****** bag. the dirty, greedy, unerhanded people who make unbelievably stupid decisions to line their pockets.

I suppose most people have these opinion, but I kinda actually hate football because of it.

Re: state your unpopular football opinion

I have a slightly different take on that...

I don't like the invasion of foreign owners and clubs like City who throw money around like it's nothing because it took it all too far. Prior to that however, I was quite alright with football.

I don't quite understand the fascination with football being restored to it's working class roots. A lot of the players in football today come from very humble origins. Does anyone on this site really identify with someone like Rooney? If he was limited to some meagre salary, would you want him as your working class hero? What's the deal here?

Re: state your unpopular football opinion

Part of the problem is these footballers aren't anywhere near as important as the media (and their salaries I guess) makes them out to be.

Re: state your unpopular football opinion

I think its also about the game becoming more exclusive, not just identifying with a player.

Re: state your unpopular football opinion

They are that important though and considering the amount of time and emotional investment you've put in over the years, can you honestly make a convincing argument to the contrary?

No, they're not curing cancer or leading nations. No, football isn't as important in the grand scheme of things as earthquakes devastating an entire region. But still, people are interested and people care. They always have.

Are you talking about rising ticket prices?

Re: state your unpopular football opinion

Had we signed gareth Barry when rafa was after him we would have finished in the top 4 last season.

Re: state your unpopular football opinion

Footy's boring, all footy players are cunts and most footy fans are cunts. It's a cunts sport and I can't fathom why it's so popular when most games bore the arse off me.

Re: state your unpopular football opinion

- 'Off field stability leads to on-field success.'

Who'd you rather be a supporter of Arsenal - with their shiny stadium, strategic plan, healthy bottom line and zero trophies in 6 years or Man United - $1bn in debt and fucking eating trophies?

Re: state your unpopular football opinion

Not a football opinion, but I wanted to say it anyway...

I find 'lolcats' to be the least funny phenomenon ever.

Though I (sports) hate Man U, I respect them. And when you combine that with the fact that I hate Chelsea only slightly less than I hate Man U and I have absolutely NO respect for them whatsoever, I guess if I'm being 100% honest, I'd rather see Man U win the league. At least they have a history.

Ditto City.

Also, if we're destined to be shite for the next few seasons, I'd like Stevie G and Pepe to go to Arsenal and be the reason that team finally wins the league - Stevie G deserves a title before he retires.
I grew up despising united and detested the air they breathed but, as I've said on other occasions, in my rational moments I admit they're a club much like our own with a tremendous - though slightly inferior - history. Chelsea I despise in every way and they have not one redeeming feature in my eyes. The only reason I pause over the title this year is the mancs chance of taking number 19.

As for your last thought, I said something similar in another thread last week. I'm not so concerned with Pepe but I almost want Stevie to go overseas - preferably Spain - and win the title over there with a superb team. I'd like him to be able to sit back with stars around him, the pressure off and let him showcase his ability as the greatest midfielder in the greatest team in the world. Then I hope he comes back home and plays for another couple of seasons at Anfield.

Fallon, we finished with 86 points in one of those two seasons.

Hence why it's an unpopular football opinion.

Re: state your unpopular football opinion

I wouldn't trade our CL win in 2005 for a league title.

It was too special.

sami was and is a much better defender than carra
Is that considered an unpopular opinion? I know there are a couple of nuts who would still argue it but, on the whole, I wouldn't have thought it unpopular - just reality.

Carra will be a Kop legend forever but Sami will go down as one of our greatest ever defenders.

A majority of our fans are nobheads. This doesn't differentiate them from the rest of the human species but there's this myth goes around that Liverpool fans are fun, knowledgeable supporters. That only applies to a dwindling minority.

I agree.

This thread is simply made for you Pat. You should fill yer boots.

Seriously though we have a large amount of whoppers that follow LFC it is true. But it's not even close to a majority.

Re: state your unpopular football opinion

Raheem Sterling will be eventually regarded as arguably Liverpool's greatest ever player

Maybe so, but I love wild optimism at the moment.

Re: state your unpopular football opinion

Steven Gerrard shouldn't be converted into a holding midfielder

Re: state your unpopular football opinion

OOTers are traitors to their local team and only started support winning teams.
