....but he's not too bad in facing shots, it's when we get an onslaught with bodies around the box and defenders failing to clear their lines, or as I said, set pieces. I understand that we're opened up more, but his bigger strength is dealing with shots, what he doesn't handle is having opposition players in and around him.

If he struggled with us getting hit on the break, I'd understand the reasoning, when we're under the cosh, we do get players back, that's different, we have enough players there to deal with danger, it's not because he's isolated, it's usually the contrary.

Which was my point mate. He's contributed to this title challenge because of his strengths. He's been a valuble player for us.
Agree with his weaker areas and that he needs to adress that big time. He's got the frame just add aggression and stop overthinking in certain situations.

We have conceded the most goals from crosses in the division.
I presume if Simon stays on his line then he can't be deemed guilty of making a mistake for the goal regardless of whether he should have come for the cross or not.
If anything, despite his error against Norwich, I think all aspects of his game has improved recently.
He still has some way to go though and he remains an area for concern going into next season.

Piss weak mentality?

Bollocks to that. When he makes an error he still goes on & makes fantastic saves later that same game.

It took dudek about 6 games to get off making a gaff. That season Utd (forlan?) scored when he fumbled it in he was then shaken for about two months.

Kirkland was similar when he fucked up, as was Joe Hart, to use a non Liverpool example.

His mentality in recovering from errors is one of the last things you can accuse of being lacking.
The one thing that cannot be lumped at him is a weak mentality. Even after dropping a clanger, he's right out there for the next cross trying to make amends. I really like his attitude
