How worried should we be for these last three games? Pressure is building and GKs are usually the first to succumb, in this case his recent performances suggest he has one serious mistake a game in him. Chelsea and co will no doubt want to test him.

I'm worried about him...someone remind me the glass is half full!

We'll make a few mistakes in the next few games, as he has been doing most of the season. Hopefully it'll continue not to matter.

According to OPTA he's made 5 errors leading to goals in 35 games this season.
So an error leading to a goal every 7th game then, hardly every game...

Sod opta. My blood pressure peaking to stroke inducing levels every time a cross comes in tells me he's not ace yet. Maybe next season along with a steady and solid defence.

One thing that drives me mad with Ming is how often he parries a shot right back into the centre of the goal towards onrushing forwards. tip it round the post or catch the fucker!

Is there a stat for how many outstanding saves leading to no goal that he's made, because I'm pretty sure it's higher.

If you can't see that he has made a lot of mistakes, then that's your issue. We can do better than he's been this season. Hopefully he'll get better himself, but I'd be looking at getting some decent competition in for him in the summer.

Where would people rate him out of the 20 goalkeepers in the league?

Im not sure he even makes top 10, he has a lot of work to do if he wants a long career here.

There's a lot of talk of us signing Marshall from Cardiff to give Ming competition. I think it is a very good idea.

It is a bit strange when you hear it said hes only made 4 or 5 mistakes this season, those were the big ones - the calamitous mistakes, theres many more issues with him than the 4 or 5 calamitous mistakes hes made.

Not sure we bother with competition for him, i think we should either replace him or stick with him for another season and hope he improves, no half measures, make a clear decision.

I'm not deliberately being a cock here, but I can't think of more than two or three saves over the season that I would regard as outstanding. The double save from the peno and the triple save against Soton were ace, then there were a couple of feet and body saves and one or two others. To me he's no better than loads of other keepers. He's not a top draw keeper in my eyes and we will sign better within the next two years I reckon.

We're on the verge of winning the league, so it's hard to complain, and I'm going to reserve criticism until the end of the season. All I'd say now is that 10 million should buy you a top 3 keeper in the league. I don't think Mignolet is in that league. He's young and could improve, but we really need to see that next season.

He had a great game at Goodison, made some real good saves there, still conceded 3 but the defence was all over the place that day, especially in the 2nd half.

Yeah, is that to do with him not commanding his area? Not communicating well enough with his defence? Or not his fault at all?

Hes fucking wank.
I called that shitty parrying shots straight out after 2 games. He is shit in the air, his distribution is fucking woeful, his decision making is shite, he stays rooted too his line and NEVER sweeps. Hes a passable shot stopper but a fucking terrible goalie.
He and our full backs are weak as piss.

Agree with all of that.

Not sure tbh, that was one of our most hectic games of the season, end to end and all sorts of shit going on, just remember him he making 4 or 5 really good saves that day.

Agree with what Mishra says above, paying the money we paid you would expect a top 3 or at the very least top 5 goalkeeper in the league and if we are being brutally honest he doesn't come close to that atm.

With his commanding the area, he looks indecisive about whether he should or should not come for a cross which leads to him coming for ones he shouldn't and not coming for ones he should, he really needs to sort out his decision making out.
When he comes for crosses he needs to commit 100% and not worry about clearing out whoever is in his way, just make sure you get there, after his fuck up the other day he did deal with a few crosses after that very well so he can do it.

erm, i was sort of hoping for some sort of glass if half full remedy, alas you've gone and smashed the glass!

No goalkeeper ever improved with Acturburg as his coach.

Why is SCM desperately searching for things to worry about? Are people hoping the counter argument will reassure them, or is it just that we/you are all so used to failing that you are trying to identify the cause of inevitable failure ahead of time?
