All together now: I say oops up over your head, I say oops up over your head! You are getting very sleepy. Fifa Financial Fair Play...Linda...Good works in the community....Linda...

I'd hate that little money grabbing cunt back here.

However if he'd agree to a pay as you play deal I can't see us turning it down, he'd be better than Morgan on the bench... I feel dirty for even thinking it, but logically it makes sense.

I'm not so sure about this.

Neil warnock called diouf a 'dirty sewer rat' worst in the game and then signs him for Leeds utd but he has done a job for his team, a similar situation with Owen if he can score us goals who gives a fuck..

I do.

I'm all for filling gaps, short-term solutions, looking at woods for trees etc... But surely there's some sort of line? Surely we're better than this?

I understand we're fucked from an attacking sense, but how could we possibly lower ourselves to bringing back someone like Owen. This is running back to an ex who cheated on you cos you're fucking lonely and it's 3am.

Don't do this Liverpool, please don't.

Yeah, that is a sad situation, and one that you hope your mates don't find out about.

That said, if you get laid before sunrise and then tell her to fuck off 'cos you got what you wanted, it's not really a long term regret is it?

Ditto, i'll find it hard to cheer any goal Owen ever scored. If we offer this sorry excuse anything more than 10k or a pay as you play we're mugs.

We all know what Owen's injury record is like. There's a good chance if he comes back, he'll do his hamstring the first time Rodgers asks him to play.

So, no thanks.

It won't be long before you'll feel for so nostalgic for the experience of seeing a goal you'll cheer it no matter who scores it.

Just when you feel the club can't become any more of an embarrassment we may be actually contemplating this ?

Is it embarrassing? It's logical to look for someone else who is available and affordable and who looks likely to improve our chances of actually scoring a goal. That limits us to youth players or free agents. Owen is just about the only relevant free agent out there. It's therefore logical to consider him. How we got into such a situation IS embarrassing, but I don't see the decision to consider him is embarrassing. The problem with the the fans at the moment is that they cannot understand that beggars can't be choosers. They still have the mentality of a top four club, dismissing cup competitions as beneath them and ruling out possible targets as being unworthy. The fact is Liverpool needs another striker. Unless magic is involved, I can't see where else one will come from before January.

Del Piero, Klasnic, Owen and Pongolle. Free and available.

Del Piero is talking to Southampton apperantly.

What's embarrassing Macca is we're considering a washed-up injury prone judas has been that even mid table teams wont even consider. Beggars can't be choosers you say - what's embarassing is that we're even begging in the first place.

If the deal is right, ie pay as you play or even pay as you score, then fuck it we need an option.

We have to do what's best for the club - I realise that getting in this situation was not best for the club.

I'll take him. IF the deal is right.

If the deal is right John ? We've put ourselves in a pathetically weak bargaining position really haven't we ? Players know we're desperately short of options and gives them some weight in negotiations.

Well I assumed that all of these except Owen and maybe Pongolle would cost too much in wages, and as Owen's the only likely one to take a pay as you play deal, that's why I described him as the only relevant target. Obviously if any of the others are cheap enough they ought to be considered. The important thing is to bring someone in who is likely to improve our chances of scoring goals. That search has to be monitored by fans with a sober appreciation of where this club is at - and that's deep in the doo-doo.

Del Piero, Klasnic, Pongolle and Owen in that order, Owen should absolutely be the last resort and even then it would sicken me to see him play for us again knowing that he 100% doesnt give a fuck about the club or the fans

sometimes you just have to stick to your principles even if it hurts you and I'd rather eat my own shit than see him in a lfc shirt again.

I'd hate to see Owen back, but we have to acknowledge that Rodgers and the owners do not have the same scars as us with regards to the twat. So I won't be surprised if this deal gets done. Hard to blame them for not having the same hurt as us as they weren't here.

All accepted Sean. I felt dirty saying the words but on the point of principle (a weak one imo) we wouldn't want to get a goalscorer? The reason I think its weak is because he's played for Utd, but so had Heinze and we wanted him. Forget all the did we sell him or did he force a move, its now irrelevant to me.

Just one further point, he's equally weak cos he isn't being inundated with offers is he? Signing Michael Owen PLC, if negotiated right, represents little risk to us and frankly we need striker depth. He would provide some of it. I'm not naive enough to think he was the right option during the window but the window has slammed shut (c. Sky Sports) and the situation has changed.

I don't like being beggars but isn't he in the same boat? If he scores the goals we need from the bench or as a starter then I don't care because its whats best for LFC. That's not meant to sound patronising BTW.

The follow the club not the players. Most of them are soulless twats anyway. If Owen comes and does a job, I'd be infinitely happier than paying Joe Cole's excessive wages for another 4 months at least! I don't mean to single out Cole either. There's been numerous other examples.

Is the success of the club more important than this "principle" you talk of? I won't get into the whole who engineered the Real transfer saga because no one really knows, people have just decided what they want to believe to suit their agenda. Myself included.

Yeah he went to Utd, we know what he is. But if he can and does do a job for us, this "principle" stuff sounds flat. He didn't murder children, he didn't spit at opposition fans (Diouf) he played for that club.

I'm not saying don't have principles, but lets be sure that we aren't sitting on the moral high ground while the flood waters isolate us completely.

I understand that some people are trying to be pragmatic and as such are considering Owen but does anyone really see him making that much of a difference?

I certainly can't see him justifying the embarrassment of taking him back with goals. He'd just end up being another Joe Cole - much better on paper than he is on the field.

If we have to - and we don't yet - I'd rather give one of the reserves a go. They may not be ready but one of them may surprise us and if nothing else, it'll put them in the shop window for a loan move or transfer away later on down the line.

Michael Ngoo for example has the physical frame to move up a level. I'd rather give him a go - despite the fact that I don't think he'll make it.

I am not sure he will make all the difference. We do need more depth, why not Ngoo and Owen? Like I say, if a deal with Owen is constructed correctly then we should consider it along with other options. Lets face it, giving a reserve a go and having a seasoned pro in there is not that bad an idea.
