McLeish back in for Babel

See once in a while I fall for Doctor Macs 'Mcleish is a sage' rhetoric, then I hear he's in for BAbel again and I think 'What a dumb, blind know nothing Ginger pock faced scottish cunt'

I didn't know doc Mac was Ginger or Scottish?

Seriously though Maybe he sees the talent in the boy and thinks he can get it out of him? I say 'boy' because Babel is perpetually 22 years old in my head for some reason.

Thank God for that. I've been banging on that he's not good enough, had more than enough chances, and that there is no way he is going to make a starting team, maybe not even the bench, with the front players we have now, Cole coming in and Pacheco ahead of him too. Take the money and spend it where we need it.

I'd take 8 million for him and spend that on a left back. That will leave 20 million to blow on a babel replacement! If we assume poulsen is mashers replacement.

Playing the FM card : 8M for Babel / 4M that we are already in credit / 5 Insua (when it happens) and 25M for Masherano (just don't sell for less) give us 42M less expenses & tax so say around 35M for a good striker (15M) good CM (12M) and LB (8M). Maybe sell Lucas too (we had interest didn't we) ?

hope he stays, babel is pretty clueless but still has the ability to change things from the bench and I think (KNOW) we are going to need that this season.

If we can get 7 million for Lucas and replace him for about 12 million with someone who is better we would be mad not to. Defour / cattermole/ bangea someone like that.

I remember xabi saying Babel was the most skillful player in training. This is one shred of hope that he might come good under different manager.

Finding someone who can play in any of the front 3 positions is tricky. It's a shame Babel was not up to it.

Hleb is capable of playing all three positions...

I know some are up in arms about him possibly joining, and if the rumours are correct we're not getting enough back for Mascher, but I've always thought he was a top player... maybe I'm remembering him differently than the rest, but I always rated him when he was at Arsenal.

I'm not sure anyone has said that, I just think that the majority agree that the reported €15m plus Hleb for Mascherano does not represent a good deal.

Fortunately, it was probably bullshit anyway.

Hleb is also more at home on the right.

For £8-12M I would sell Babel in an instant and put it towards a striker or a LB

Granero.

I don't think Babel wants to go to Birmingham. Understandably.

And you never know: Hodgson may just have the key to unlocking all that pace and power on a more consistent and useful basis...

If we sell an attacker and by a left back I'll be furious.

Our squad is thin bare as it is, in the striker department (where Bable can play) more than others. So I'd like to see some players bought before we sell any more.

If he stays he will prove 99% of people on here wrong.

I can't be the ONLY person who still likes babel 🙁

Even top managers get things wrong! That said, he might make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

No Pat, he wont.

He's just thick as fuck. I don't think he has the capacity for learning. If you could get that fly machine and instead of putting jeff goldblum and insects in it you shoved Babel and Benayoun in, you'd end up with one soggy window licking spaz without bowel control and the best footballer on earth.

What that he CAN sing ? Because he can't play footy thats for sure. It would take a massive, and I mean massive, turnaround to prove anyone wrong Pat. It's simply outside the realms of reality. He's got no focus , no backbone and - more importantly - one of the worst footballing brains I've seen.

No, he'll continue to prove about 3% of people wrong. Including you.

If he plays 90% of the games this season like he played against Athletico I'll be happy. Sadly he probably won't.

you don't need a footballing brain to change games from the bench and despite how clueless babel is most times he certainly has the ability to do that (change games) and guranteed a lot of time we are going to struggle to kill games early. this isn't about babel forcing his way into the first team (I gave up on that ages ago) this is about someone offering something different if things are going tits up, even the likes of patches is going to do similar things to cole from the bench, not many people in our squad can push teams back with power and pace.

if we were going to sell babel and spend the money on someone with power and pace then sure, go for it, otherwise I'd sooner keep him.
