Liverpool's youth ranks have been bolstered today as the club have acquired the signature of young German Stephen Sama, who has inked a deal that will ensure he remains at Anfield until June 2012.
Sama follows the path trod by Christopher Buchtmann last summer, who has since been touted - by UEFA - as one of the ten most exciting prospects to watch in continental football.
However, the 16-year-old is not as highly-rated as Buchtmann, a left-back who helped the Reds' Under-18 team reach the FA Youth Cup final, as Dortmund youth director Peter Wazinski confirmed to Reviersport.
"This time they did not look closely enough," Wazinski explained.
"Stephen was a substitute last season, unlike Christopher Buchtmann was when he joined them."
Wazinski even intimated that they will not even notice the loss of Sama.
"In terms of Stephen Sama, the transfer does not hurt us in any way, except that there is always a better moment to join another club than in the middle of pre-season," he concluded.
