Zackly. Mascher is the best ball-winner I've ever seen in a Liverpool shirt, and I go back to the Shankly era.
Our returning loon amuses me - He's nothing if not a bastion of bellendness. He should really make that his signature imo.

spot on. mascher is a lovely bait for the simple 'he can't pass' crowd - the guy is technically excellent - no shame not getting into the centre for Barca, few could. its a testament to his skills that he can adapt as a cb too. if you can't pass or are not good on the ball what are you doing as a regular for Barca for the last 3 yrs?

It's no shame at all considering that Yaya Toure, who many seem to consider the best CM in the league, couldn't really establish himself in his preferred position at Barca either.

I find myself at a loss about what LFC would do with such a player as Masher.... I mean.... Where would we play him?????
As I've been saying for months; we don't need another defensive midfielder - and especially not one who's as poor in possession as Mascherano. I've explained why we don't need one countless times, in excruciating (yet brilliant) detail.

Well, apart from the fact that one of our biggest flaws is how poor we are WITHOUT the ball, I'm fucked if I'd know where to start, Ryan.
Just an opinion flower. You are very wrong though. Masher was not Garcia. He didn't give the ball away lots. Sure he wasn't Xabi or Xavi but he was never mean't to be. He was (and is) a very good defensive midfielder who can break up tackles with the minimum of fuss. Is it that you prefer Lucas over Masher..?. I guess even the most professional of footballers lose all sense and reason.
I'm keeping a close eye on him. One thing is for sure. He is deffo stupid...

Souness was the best all-round footballer of the three. Didi wasn't on his level but was probably better than Mascher as an all-rounder (and the best con-man of the three of them). But purely and simply as a ball-winner, which is what I specifically referred to, I'd take Mascher over either. And probably unlike you, I saw all three live.

Quite. Hamann was a different type of DM, he read the game and his passing game, long and short was more rounded than Masher's, but he wasn't a little terrier like Masher was, always pressing and snapping at the ball. And again, I fail to see how that's something we don't need, if anything it's exactly the kind of attributes which complements what we already have.
