[article=http://www.sport-english.com/en/noticias/barca/bayern-and-man-city-among-clubs-ready-pay-12m-for-barca-defender-marc-bartra-4273655]Marc Bartra's days at Barcelona could be coming to an end. The Spanish international defender's release clause has dropped from 50 million euros to just 12 million euros because he has not played enough matches over the past two seasons.

It's identical to the situation which saw Thiago Alcantara leave for Bayern Munich. And it's a situation which, once again, Josep Guardiola has got his eye on. Bayern and Manchester City are among the clubs who have suggested they are prepared to pay Bartra's buyout clause.

SPORT revealed the detail in the 24-year-old's contract several weeks ago. Barça have no intention of selling Bartra, but during talks this week while he has been with the Spain side, he has left the door open to a potential exit.

The reality is that, along with his representatives, he will make a decision in the coming weeks after listening one more time to Barcelona. However, at the moment he sees his future away from the Catalan club.

It is not a question of money, but of importance. If Bartra decides to leave, it will be because he understands that he does not have a big enough role to play at Barça. Luis Enrique's favoured pairing in defence has been Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano, with Jeremy Mathieu his preferred back up. Thomas Vermaelen has also recently returned from injury.

Despite that, Bartra is still in favour with Vicente del Bosque, who considers him the future of Spain's defence.

Bartra's situation has not gone unnoticed across Europe and interest has risen as word has spread about how much it would cost to sign him. He has important offers from clubs who are prepared to offer him a more prominent role.

Guardiola wants to sign a central defender this summer and he is now seriously considering a move to take Bartra to Germany. Things have worked out well with Thiago, injuries aside.

City have also been in touch with the defender. But there are more clubs interested, too. In England, Liverpool and Tottenham have made initial contact, while Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund have also been alerted by the player's release clause. All have the money to complete the deal, with some talks further down the line than others.

After Spain's match with Belarus on Sunday night, Bartra will return to Barcelona on Monday. He plans to meet with his representatives to discuss the options available to him.

This summer's elections will not influence his decision. Bartra is available for 12 million euros, if that fee is paid to the LFP, and that is that. Barça cannot have a say in anything in that sense.

For the second time in the last two years, Barcelona could lose a player with a great future in the game at club and international level.[/article]

Don't think he'll end up at one of the bigger clubs - he obviously wants to play regular footy and won't get that at City or Bayern. Decent shot to start quite a few games with us, Spurs and Dortmund (esp if they sell HUmmels.

He's had some injury problems - and has not really got a run of games to show what he's about - but I think if we're going to sell Skittles (or Lovren), this kid would be an excellent purchase @ 12 million. NOt likely to happen but as per Ross, a thread to discuss!

Opps, please delete the other thread, @LeTallecWiz.

Martín Montoya will probably be leaving too, with both Alves and Vidal ahead of him in the pecking order.

How good is Barta though? Just because he's on the books at Barca doesnt mean he'll warrant 12 mill or be any good.

Last time I saw him play Bale ran around him like he was a Sunday league player.

We should follow Barca tactics and admit to stupidly high release clauses being there in the contracts of our own shitty players.

Yes yes, Borini has a 15 million release clause. Our hands will be tied if an offer in that region is received....

You mean at the cup final where he shouldn't have been playing? If we're going to judge him on that, yes - he's crap ...

As I said mate, I know nothing about him other than that. Why wasnt he supposed to play? Is he any good?

From what I remember, he wasn't 100% fit ... I don't remember why he played though (I think Pique was either benched or injured).

Binny - it's costa rica man !

Hehe. That aside, majority of the fans seem to rate him highly based on the thread.

Well, they did beat Uruguay and Italy at the last World Cup, and drew with the Netherlands. Unbeaten over 90 minutes in every game and reached the quarter finals, as opposed to Spain.... 😀

It's very hard to judge defenders at Barca. They have to be fantastic going forward to really look part of the group and defending-wise they can often be left having to react to a bad situation, which isn't easy.

Bartra can look quite elegant at times he's not the most imposing from a physique point of view and doesn't always look rock solid. There is a solid foundation there but very hard to determine whether a run of games at a club that sees him as first choice will see a great emerge.

[article]Marc Barta’s agent insists his client is 'happy at Barcelona', but reveals €12m would be enough to sign him, with Inter interested.

The Catalan side’s international sporting director, Ariedo Braida said earlier today that the player was ‘unavailable’, but his representative is far less definitive.

“It’s nice to know that the club hierarchy believe in the lad,” Javier Diaz admitted, speaking to FCInterNews.

“Marc is very happy at Barcelona, but if there was real interest from clubs where he could get more space then we’ll listen and make our own decisions.

“His release clause has fallen to €12m after failing to make a certain number of appearances, but that’s only until July 1, when it goes back up to €30m.

“Inter? I can’t mention the names of the teams who have asked me about the player, nor am I going to say whether or not Inter have asked.

“I can’t comment on these rumours.”[/article]
