Man City

We could win if the tactics are as astute as they were against Chelsea AND if we have a bit of good fortune.

Mancini's Inter dominated Serie A but were average in the Champions' League.

Maybe they need more time ?

It's comeuppance for his Barca-esc comments!

It's like I've said in this thread though, Man City are beatable if you attack them, seize the initiative and attack them. They're like the opposite of us, they have weaknesses when a team attacks them without fear yet thrive when a team sits back and tries to grind out a result, they're skillful, fast, and inventive enough to break stubborn teams down, the less time there attackers have on the ball the better. Napoli are a fantastic attacking team with Lavezzi, Cavani and Hamsik, and they undone City last night because they attacked them.

Please please please Kenny, play the same team and tactics as we did against Chelsea against City.
They also played 3 in defence with two wingbacks bombing forward all night. They key was that as much a they were bombing forward they were getting back too. Working their socks off to help the centre backs. I think we have the personnel to emulate the way Napoli play but can we execute it?

-----------------Reina

----------Skrtel---Carra---Agger

Johnson---------------------------Enrique
---------------Lucas--Adam

-----------Suarez--------Bellamy/Maxi

-------------------Carroll

City play with two deep CM/DM's (Toure + Barry) as opposed to Chelsea (Mikel) so I cant see us applying as much pressure up the pitch as we did against the chavs. Napoli always had options out wide last night with the wingbacks when things got tight in the centre.

We'll go toe to toe with city and lose. Thats my bet but we're good enough to beat any team it just depends on which team that turns up, the one who beat Chelsea or the one who dropped points versus Swansea and Norwich.

That makes Norwich & Swansea at home even more annoying Andy.
For me it makes the signing of Henderson and Downing all the more annoying.
Maxi and Meireles are far better footballers.
Hey ho. All history is bunk.
We signed Downing cos we had no-one to give the ammo to our record signing that doesn't play. Henderson will come good eventually I think but Downing & Carroll are a waste of money.
I still think Downing will be ok. I'm glad we've got Henderson.

I don't think Carroll is a bad player but I thought at the time and still believe his was a poor signing. We played so superbly second half of last season while Carroll was mostly injured. The departure of Ming and the desire to play with Carroll has caused us immense problems.

As for Spurs - they're performing to the level some of us expected last season. I mentioned in another thread I thought they'd been excellent. The problem has been that disaster against City which placed question marks over them.

If we beat city (HUGE IF) then this season has some real opportunities in it. The problem is I don't think we're close to their performances at the moment and beating a dispirited Chavs team hasn't convinced me. But, a win or even a draw would be huge - both in our season and in the title race.

If we do take points off city then I hope like crazy that Kenny and Damien have got a clinical, goal scoring freak lined up and that Stevie comes back to fitness and form. Otherwise it will serve only to open the door for the mancs or, less likely, Arsenal or Chelsea.

It should be the same side, no?
Without a doubt.

Really looking forward to this game actually. Our win at Chelsea will obviously give the team a big confidence boost but it also eases the pressure(well, slightly) going into this.

I think it'll be the best atmosphere at Anfield all season, inc the United game. City with their riches and looking by far the best side in the league will make us underdogs and that kind of scenario always brings out the best in the crowd.

Gonna be a tough one though. Just hope we can raise our game again.

Mos def.

Liverpool were the last team to stop Manchester City from scoring in the Premier League. Since then City have netted in 18 consecutive games.

Liverpool were also the last team to score more than two goals against City.

2003 - The last year Manchester City defeated Liverpool at Anfield. Fortress

Well the stats are on our side I suppose.

You see, city don't like people attacking them, but by the same token theny can rip even the most staunchest of defences apart

Kuyt shouildn't start because he's about as useful as a dick on the moon right now. But he'll help out defensively

t'is a quandry for me

I'd start Henderson a head of kuyt on sunday. Citys 3 man midfield needs to be adressed, and he has deserved it after his latest cameos. Kuyt has been off form for a while now.

Haha I can't believe I made myself LOL.

I obviously meant Man City 🙂

OK, we're currently 12 points after Man C and 8 points after united with one game in hand.

So if we beat Man C tomorrow, we'll be back in the race IMO, but and this is a major BUT we have to go on a winning streak like Tottenham.

The "race" for what Modo?
Race for the title of course.
I know it's a bit deluded, but hey, keeping hope alive, reaching for the sky and all that...

Score predictions guys?

I'm going 1-2 🙁

Kuyt for us.
I thought it was an away game, so I said that we'll lose but considering that it's home I guess I'll have to say draw.
2-2 with Suarez scoring the first Adam the second.

Right.

We will win this game - and it will be either 2-0 or 4-1 to us. I can feel it in my balls guys - its really sexual.
