The two best teams in England currently are Spurs and City.
Spurs handed us our arses and I dont think this will be any different.
A good result against a weak Chelsea team isnt suddenly making us world beaters.

We'll do well to get a point.
spurs was a bad day at the office and nothing more, too many people didn't turn up.
spurs are good, city are awesome.
Nothing more.
Ok.
We were playing with 10 and then 9 men. It was bad day.
We were being battered when we had 11 men. Theres no point revising history, we got humped.
aye it was our worst gig of the year, but it was against the best team weve faced.

At Spurs Modric scored one of the goals of the season and they started like a runaway Fire Engine, .... however after 25-30 mins we had got over the shock and were playing on an even keel, in fact even when we went down to 10 men we still looked well in it and should have drawn level. What happened when we went down to 9 is more than understandable and really we should be look at that match up to the 60th minute ... after than 9 vs 11 was/is no contest.

Spurs have an excellent team and in Modric, Bale, Parker, VdV and Walker some top class players - they are real contenders for the title IMO, but I also think that if we are within shirt tugging distance come January then we can also be right up there at the business end of the season as City, United, Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal are involved in more and more high profile CL and Cup matches.

Spurs did come racing out of the traps but you're making them out to be some super side.

They weren't that great, we were just that bad. I think if a few players had kept their heads that day, we'd have seen a very different scoreline.

Spurs have been in some very good form of late, but their fixture list has been pretty good to them though.

I cant stand to give them any credit as they have some of the most absolutly cuntish fans. Thinking they're one of the best teams around Europe and forgetting they've been shit for years and years. Hate them.

I agree with this. They are a good side, but not spectacular.

This to a tea. I cannot fucking stand the club, they make me blood boil at every level. Fans, Players (Modric, Bale, VDV), Manager, Chairman, everything about them, honest to god I despise them more than Man United, who I at least have some respect for. Nothing would make me happier than seeing Tottenham Hotspur wiped off the face of this planet.

I still think we would have been beaten but we would have given a better account of ourselves. we normally lose at spurs regardless of how we play. I remember with rafa we absolutely battered them at WHL (with maxi missing an absolute sitter) and ended up losing.

we have a chance to get into our stride here, especially if kenny keeps the same team for a while. but i dont think we can kid ourselves, chelsea were poor, city are in awesome form, we're gonna lose 3-1, if we're lucky. its more about how good city our at the moment rather than how far we have to go

Citeh have been a bit lucky in a few of their matches (Newcastle, Fulham, QPR even Wolves and Everton to some extent) and awesome in others. We have been exceedingly unlucky (fuck you 'bar' ... and your brother 'post'!) in a few so it's not as if we can't run them close and then hopefully Lady Luck will swing in our direction rather than theirs for a change.

We had a touch of fortune yesterday - maybe a change in our luck ?
After 10 times hitting the post and not scoring, then we're due 10 times hitting the post and going in.

Good teams have good luck though, or as my Utd supporting mate says create their own luck.

Playing Skittle out of position against Bale was an enormous mistake that cost us heavily.

Does he know it's a shankly quote?!

It's true though in most cases. Shoot enough times & you're more likely to score from a deflection. Play the ball into the box at feet & you're more likely to get a peno.

This is what I was trying to get to in my previous post, they are out of this world going forward, but there is a weakness at the back, if only because they go forward so gungho (and credit to them for that). If we play the same style as yesterday, i.e attacking them from the front, I really think we could have some joy. However the flip of this, is all the time in our half Chelsea had in the second half yesterday, if Man City have this, they'll do a lot more damage.

It'll be a fantastic game, I just hope Kenny doesn't go out to try and nullify them and grid a bore draw or cheeky one nil. I think this will play right into there hands. We need to attack, harass and unsettle them, just like yesterday.

Despite the form they're in, City won't be looking forward to coming to Anfield. Will be a red hot atmosphere.

See my other thread.

It's a locked on 3 points for us to end their unbeaten run and open the door for Utd.

uh-oh...

Ha... lightning doesn't strike twice and all that, quit while you're ahead Pat!

We are at home, the guys are playing well, will treat it like a cup final and Suarez will show he is the best in the league.

Comfortable win for us.

how can they be so dominant in the domestic league and all over the place in europe? is our league that bad? are teams in europe that canny? weird.

Surely it suggests our league isn't very good? Either that or I've just missed some implied sarcasm there!

Mancini's Inter dominated Serie A but were average in the Champions' League.

Maybe they need more time ?

It's comeuppance for his Barca-esc comments!

It's like I've said in this thread though, Man City are beatable if you attack them, seize the initiative and attack them. They're like the opposite of us, they have weaknesses when a team attacks them without fear yet thrive when a team sits back and tries to grind out a result, they're skillful, fast, and inventive enough to break stubborn teams down, the less time there attackers have on the ball the better. Napoli are a fantastic attacking team with Lavezzi, Cavani and Hamsik, and they undone City last night because they attacked them.

Please please please Kenny, play the same team and tactics as we did against Chelsea against City.
