Luis Suarez is Europe’s £30million wanted man

Like the Carling Cup is what Suarez came to Liverpool for. The Carling Cup doesn't even belong in "things".

He didn't - but he came to win stuff, and considering Kuyt and many others have yet to hold a trophy as Liverpool players, it's time we start with something. Start with something small and build up ... All the way up to what counts the most.

INTER MILAN and Real Madrid are weighing up audacious summer bids to land Liverpool’s Luis Suarez.

The European giants believe they could exploit the controversy surrounding the Uruguayan’s eight-match ban for racially abusing Manchester United’s Patrice Evra to prise him away from Anfield.

Suarez is a massive fans’ favourite and boss Kenny Dalglish, who gave the player unstinting support during the investigation into the Evra bust-up, would resist any potential bid.

But owner John W Henry will closely monitor reaction to Suarez after his return from suspension, which is due against Tottenham on February 6.

As well as being personally concerned by the Suarez case, Henry fears the player could become ‘damaged goods’, with the bad publicity around the case potentially affecting future commercial deals.

Representatives have been sounding out several clubs, including Inter and Jose Mourinho’s Real about Suarez, 25. And while he has turned in some impressive displays since his £25million move from Ajax last year, Liverpool have struggled for goals.

And the club’s attacking unit could be overhauled at the end of the season, with £35m Andy Carroll failing to fit in. Suarez has scored just one Premier League goal since his confrontation with Evra in October.

A major stumbling block in Real’s bid to sign him is that his agent is Pere Guardiola, brother of Pep, boss of Real’s bitter rivals Barcelona.

Selling Suarez would be a massive mistake. Henry and the club should back him and help him back in rather than "monitoring" and considering a sale.

I dont think hes good enough for Barca or Real, his goals to games ratio in the Premiership is nothing special, if I was Guardiola Id be after VanPersie not Suarez, hes too hit and miss and comes with a hell of a lot of baggage

I believe he'll shit goals in Spain. just like he does for Uruguay and like he did for Ajax.
I think he'll start scoring more frequently for us if the suspension has not moved some parts in his head and if we manage to gather some quality players around him (maybe he can build some partnership with Gerrard and Bellamy).

Put some clever footballers around him, he will score goals for us. Carroll, Henderson, Downing, Kuyt...they are not the right type of players for our attack if we want to beat teams with skill and intelligent movement. He really could be our talismanic presence to build the side around, in the mould of Cantona or Henry. Selling him even for 40 milllion would be a massive mistake IMO.

I'm not Dirk's biggest fan but he's extremely intelligent, and was a big part of the 2nd half run we had last year. He can play the part (when on form). Henderson will be fine too - though not quite ready this year.

That's made up media bollocks. I'd be amazed if Henry or anyone else were really concerned about it, the worldwide reaction seems to be bemusement at the fa's stance, only our media are reporting otherwise.

Exactly right. In fact a Uruguayan mate of mine (yes, I know, but his English sympathies are actually with United) tells me practically the whole of S.America - including Argentina, which has never been Uruguay's best friend, especially when it comes to football - is very angry about the whole thing and about the attitudes underlying it ("our approach to racism is far better than other people's", "race relations are more advanced here" etc.) which are seen as (a) insulting and (b) bollocks anyway. Add to that the posters from Asia whom we've had on here telling us the whole thing has been a non-event in the Far East, and what you have here can be seen for what it is - the English media cooking up a typical fiction to try and justify their extraordinary posing right through the whole affair.
