He's been distinctly average for 2 years.

but in the past 3 weeks he's been a fantastic team player.

Fucking bossed £50m worth of midfield today along with Gerrard.

Fantastic performance, im firmly on the Lucas bandwagon

He still passes it too slow and gets taken on as if he wasn't there, but he's been much much much better.

More of the same please.

One thing for sure is, there is no rush to flog him now. Esp not at the last touted transfer fee of 4m in his latest link with Stoke City.

I thought he was class from minute 1 today.

And its been about his 4th or 5th cracking game in a row.

No, he's been a fucking cunt for three years.

And has played as many shit games as good games this season. So while he was all right today, he was worse than shit against Everton.

He's nowhere near good enough, and two OK games don't change that.

Only an 'all right' ?

I've never been a fan of Lucas, in fact I would gladly drive him to the airport myself...but today is the first time EVER, I've got to put my hands up and say - he was absolutely superb today.

If he keeps up this sort of performance, I actually don't mind him being in the squad. I did say squad, and not the first 11. Big difference there.

He's what he's always been, better than his most extreme critics claim but a f'ck of a lot worse than SQUAWK say. Keep him as a squaddie maybe, but we're going to need better than him starting regularly in the side if we're going to get back to the top.

Lucas has improved in leap and bounds.

Kudos to the lad for putting in the hard yards. His tackling and ball winning skills have come on in leaps and bounds.

He was good, & has been way better than previously. Credit where it's due.

Still, looked lightweight at times second half & still worries me occasionally.

We need better in our first team.

Spot on - long may it continue.

Budgie isn't doing badly either, let's face it.

If this carries on both of them will turn their Anfield careers around.

[/quote]One of the biggest critiscisms of him is that he doesnt go in whole heartedly sliding teeth gritted into 50/50's........keeps coming out of them with the ball at the minute though.

Given that he HAS been shit in the past 3 years its great to see him playing so well, and if he plays like that every game he should play every game.

Maybe that 3m wasnt misspent on Poulsen, it seems we bought us a new Lucas.

I thought Lucas was superb today.

This is what we should see week in, week out from a Liverpool CM, though, so he'll have to keep up this level of performance to justify an inclusion.

Good luck to him.

I think it's pretty clear that I'm talking about recent form.

Fair play to Lucas, he's been very good for the last 3 or 4 games indeed but let's not get too carried away, the memories of his absolutely horrific performance in the Derby are still pretty vivid to me

Great game again from Lucas today and to be fair he's had some good games over the last 3 years too. He has more presence now is cool under pressure and seems to have the Didi Hamman skill of drawing a foul. He needs to keep this up if he does he can win his doubters over.

Great 1st half display. Was alright (like the rest of the team) in the 2nd. Credit to him, he did well today.

Still far too weak on the ball though, but at least he's learning how to win freekicks despite his lack of strength (seems to have added the Didi flop to his arsenal).

Going overboard a bit here maybe? You don't judge a Liverpool CM by how much he's improved but by how much influence he has on the game.

Good solid game from him (and for the past couple of games as well), but don't tell me he 'deserves' to be in the starting XI. He had about as much influence on the game as an average Gerrard and Meireles today and it speaks volumes about your calibre if your influence isn't particularly great even on your best days.

He's a always been a hardworking lad and it's nice to see him improve. But deserving a place in the Liverpool central midfield - no chance.

Saw just one bad pass, back to skrytel under pressure. The rest of it he won quite a few good balls today and some good passes.

That's harsh, even by your standards.
