Lucas transfer was done and dusted

Sure it is, let's look at some of the players Gerrard has played with.

Hamann - won the league in Germany, played with Gerrard. No league title.

Berger - Won the Bundesliga with Dortmund, same

Mcallister - Leeds, same.

Babbel, Ziege, Glenjo, Sturridge......

Can't prove anything without a control method.
So who won the league after leaving Gerrard?

Owen, Suarez, Alonso, Mascherano....

Djimi Traore won the Champions League with Gerrard. I bet even Diego Maradona and Pele would have been able to achieve that.

You are whopping thundercunt if you really thought what you just posted passed for a valid argument.

I get that you don't rate Lucas and that's fair enough but just because i'm curious could you expand on your reasons without resorting to insults.

I think he is an average player, who does have some redeeming aspects, but we have needed far better for well over 5 years. But the thing that really frustrates me is not that he is average....its how his apologisers tend to come on here and say how boss he was every time we dont lose, regardless of how he played.

See Modo's post above for example....he pretty much blames Gerrard for us not winning the league and insinuates Lucas would have won if not for him....do you really think replying without insulting is possible in the face of such stupidty?

how is anyone supposed to reply logically? A stupid post gets a stupid reply...you reap what you fucking sow.

Is it?

I think the point is that one player does not determine where a team finishes in the league.

One good player cannot make a shit team good, but one shit player can make a good team shit....thats the beauty of team games and why you dont want weak links in a team.

He's in his "prime" and we nearly had to give him away to Besiktas for 4 mill to get rid of him.
When we look at the spine of the team that Klopp wants to create I cant see Lucas in the middle of that.
He just isnt good enough. He wouldnt get into any of the other top teams midfield, thats always a good way to look at your spine of players.
He can stay as a back up as he's a decent player. But in no way should we build for future success with him viewed as a starting midfielder.

As for Klopp trusting him. Sure, I can see that. We've got no other defensive midfielder and a ton of injuries. I doubt it means much yet.
Klopp will definetly sign another top quality central midfielder.

Time for Rafa. He ruined him.

*legs it*

Lucas was the weak link when we had the best midfield in the world. Some people have clung to that and don't seem to realise that, sadly for us, this is no longer the case.

It's not his fault, and his attitude and application is everything you could want from a player.

The most fervent of "Lucas supporters" would all be happy to see him replaced in the team by someone better. For someone who gives his all for the club, it would be nice if all our fans were his supporters, but alas some people made their minds up to hate on him many years ago.

Today was a team effort Lucas shouldn't be singled out. He did well but it wasn't a standout performance.

Herr Klopp just said something about him staying on today as we didn't really have any option. Doesn't look good for Allen.

No question, but he was also lucky not to get sent off, which might well have brought a different result with it. A microcosm of his whole career.

I wonder if Herr Klopp knows what he is. Hope so.
He's a hardworking CM, but he's just average in that position as well. Workrate just isn't enough. He can't compete with Hendo, Can and Milner.

I didn't see the game.

Just winding you up
Ha ha ya bastard.

He had the most passes first half of anyone on the pitch and covered the back four very well, should have been sent off but then did well to not dive in for the last 20 mins when any foul would have seen him off.

Abysmal for the first 10 minutes, and looked totally off the pace.

Got composed and sensible (ish). Still his stupid fouls more often than not
Abysmal in the first 10 mins belonged to Milner, Lucas was tracking everything and as such gave away a couple of needed fouls.
