Lucas transfer was done and dusted

Have you ever noticed none of other midfielders make these challenges are in the position to make them? He reads the situation so well and cover everyone.
Henderson doesn't play in that position and with good reason. It will be Milner who losses out
Yes thinking about it Lucas is covering everyone -this must be the reason we have such a great defensive record over the last few seasons - not

Ha football is an 11 man game.
Rewatch the 90 mins ( I have already) and just watch Lucas, it will open your eyes. I've never been a major fan but in the last 7 games he's been overall out best player. Doing so much well. Of course if he was bigger, stronger, more athletic and a better tackler he would be a world beater, but I'm certainly happy with him now. Dare I see he made us tick yesterday, constantly picking the ball off the back four and giving and option to the attacking three when in trouble.
He had the most passes on the pitch in the first half and complete almost double the passes of the two Chelsea CM's.
And again I was never a big fan

What? He looks at a situation and thinks "hmmm....no one else has thought about hacking someone down 5 seconds too late. You know what I'll grab the bull by the horns and by Jove I'll be the one to sycthe him down".
Ha no he thinks if this guys gets clear it's going to be a clear chance for them, let's try and win the ball and worst case concede a free kick and we can regroup and organize
Like I said if he was bigger, stronger and more athletic he would be an absolute beast.

Can we not just laugh it off with Lucas and his tackling just like the whole media used to do with that ginger twat Scholes?

Pat I've just conceded that he has been better in the last few games - but on the other hand he could have cost us with his blundering tackles by being sent off, just like in a couple of games we have been lucky to get away with penalties that could have been given against him. If we are to do anything realistically Lucas can't and won't be part of it.
Look at this logically if a player polarises opinions like Lucas does there has to be an issue- we want a player that everyone agrees is a great player

Yes Scholes was another midfielder who couldn't tackle. But his assaults were usually higher up the pitch and didn't produce such dangerous free kicks as Lucas's.

I am enjoying opposite teams not just legging it straight through our midfield. I reckon it's a hell of a lot of Klopp but there is a fair bit of Lucas in there at the moment.

Is this him reading the game so well then?

And they were proper thumping tackles worthy of a yellow card or hurting someone not these clumsy trips across the back of people's legs

True. Or it means half the fans don't understand the game ha.😉

I was all for replacing Lucas in the summer but as often has been the case with him, he's not the priority at the moment.

We are talking about the fastest most physical game in the world. Seeing the danger and being able to stop it are two different things. Incidentally I'm more impressed with his movement off the ball and constantly looking to take up a spot to recieve the ball from the defence of attack with it's back to goal.
Yesterday he did it amazingly well.

Oh he is along with rethinking the whole CM options
I had a thought during the game when we were passing the ball around Chelsea in tight spots and Lucas heavily involved. Maybe he just needs quick movement around him so he can receive the ball and release it quickly. Quick often he would get caught when he the players around him were static and he didn't have an option. This new fast approach is working for him and I think it would benefit Allen too

I think he makes a lot more sense when you get the inside info that he's not really from Brazil, he's from Wigan.

The past few seasons Lucas has more often than not been the solution to our midfield problem.

Are we really now down to "he can't tackle"? C'mon you old fuckers, try giving him a clean slate and actually watch him play without all your historic bias.

Mascherano has far worse tackling statistics (success rate and fouls conceded), but he was often busting a gut to get back into position and sliding in all over the place. That looks cool, so he must be a proper tackler.

Lucas had a very good game yesterday. But Mascherano is on another planet compared to him talent wise.
Lets stop kidding ourselves about how good he is. As I've said a few times, his love and passion for the club means I'd love for him to stay as a squad player. But we need someone of a different and higher quality to take us forward.

Hahahahaha so Lucas is a better player and tackler than Mascherano now - get to fuck man.
And get to fuck with this historic bias you cheeky twat.
I think the reason Lucas has apparently improved under Klopp is that we have had to play him as we are so shit in that CM department but Klopp to his credit is not playing him as an out and out defensive midfielder - never has Lucas been seen in the opposition half so much as the past few weeks. He's passable as a back up central midfielder , and a whopping liability as a defensive one - it's just a mystery to me that a few people can't see that.

I didn't say that

You did , you said he tackles better reads the game better and gives less fouls away - what else is there in a DM?
Nope, I said his tackling stats for us were better.

Masch was obviously better, but I think to call Lucas a shit tackler is wrong and lazy.

You said he was always out of position and had to commit himself to sliding tackles "all over the place" which gave the impression he was a good tackler.

I don't think I said always, but either way, you're missing the point.

I'm in danger of doing what I warned Modo against now, so let's agree to disagree.
