I'd hazard a guess that you put commitment and loyalty first time round, otherwise the second part doesn't make sense, and then you realised how long he's actually been with us and decided to change it.
Either way, commitment and attitude take a multitude of guises, including fully committing to 50-50 challenges, and having the right attitude to win them.
For what it's worth, I've seen enough of Lucas to believe that in there somewhere is a decent player waiting to get out - when he feels like it he has a cracking eye for a pass, unfortunately most of the time he feels like passing it sideways or backwards. If he can sort that out, and learn how to tackle, he can be alright IMO.
