I still don't believe it, unless there has been a major fall out behind the scenes, it makes no sense to sell who quite a few people feel has been our best player this season.

Pathetic. Cunt Skrtel playing instead of Hyypiä.
Cunt? Shut up you fucking annoying twat.
Yes. He's a cunt, just like you. Actually you're worse.

Is this the first time we've seen Agger and Skrtel together in the middle?
I think so Liv, will be interesting to see, provided Rafa doesn't stick Skrtel on the right again..

Chris Bascombe writes in this mornings News of the World:

“The Spanish midfielder is ready to hand in a written transfer request.

His agent Inaki Ibanez met Rafa Benitez on Friday to inform the manager of Alonso’s wish to leave. And despite the Merseyside giants insisting they do not want to sell him, Alonso’s stance will trigger an auction for the 27-year-old.

Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester City and Juventus have tried to buy Alonso in the last 12 months and Madrid will be favourites this time.

But Benitez will start the bidding at £18million and use the cash to try to sign Manchester United’s Carlos Tevez.

Alonso’s relationship with Benitez deteriorated during the courting of Aston Villa’s Gareth Barry.â€

Bascombe’s article also quotes from ‘a friend’ of Xabi, who said:

“Xabi loves Liverpool but he doesn’t feel he can stay. He has not been happy for a long time and wants to go somewhere he feels he can enjo his football again.â€

Ha. I was thinking that. He'll most likely stick Skrtel in midfield with Maschserano at right back or something stupid.

No farewell for Ryan Babel then?

Defoe will score today. Wonder what kind of reception Robbie will get?

I think he'll get a good one. He is one of us after all.

Is Ross there?

What a bizarre fucking decision not to start Sami. Even apart from the sentimentality, he's probably our best CB if Carra's playing RB.

I don't agree with all the hatred towards Rafa, but decisions like this really lessen my affection for him.

We want to win first and foremost, Sami will get his 15 mins at the end and a great send off, so whats the problem??

It's all a bit of an aniclimax, isn't it 🙁

Anyone got a decent stream up and running?

Yep you never know though, he might bring him on 10-20 mins into it so the crowd can give him a great reception. But usually the manager would do something like that two minutes before the end of the game.

The problem is that the game's basically irrelevant and a legend like Sami should be honoured by playing and captaining the team, one last time.

I'm disgusted by this decision.

Come on lads, last chance of the season to have a moan at Rafa.
You don't think that he's given us reason to do so today, mate..?

No. Sami will get a greater reception coming on off the bench. As long as he gets on, that's all that matters, imo.

Rubbish. This was a chance to honour him properly and he's failed miserably to do so...

So long as Sami gets to come on at some point to a wonderful ovation from the crowd, I think it will be an absolutely beautiful moment. If Benitez doesn't give him that opportunity, that's when I'll get my pitchfork out and start screaming blue murder.

I can't see that happening though. Sami is an absolute legend here. I don't think Benitez would be that stupid.
