Yes the youngsters did not play well in the game but I was most disappointed with Can, Origi and Moreno.

I thought Can would take the game by the scruff of the neck judging by how he played first 10-15 mins. It was telling that he was subbed first and not any of his midfield partners.

Origi I felt could have done more too but he was just awkward and kept giving away fouls. He also ran in a lot of blind alleys.

Moreno was awful. You would think that he would chomp at the rare opportunity to give Klopp a selection headache at left back but he failed miserably. I honestly doubt we will see him play again in a match of significance this season.

A stupid, heinous and selfish crime that cost two lives, but whatever our thoughts on his sentence, he has served the time given him

I just saw his crime and , knowing nothing of this previously, I've now done some digging.

1. Crashed into another car, at 97 mph
2. Over twice the legal limit
3. Got 7 years for killing two young boys but was out within 4 yrs
4. Father had serious injuries which persist to this day.
5. Trained with football team whilst inside (Swindon ?).

I know this is not relevant to the thread but Jesus Christ the UK legal system is fucking ridiculous. 4 years for killing two boys aged 8 & 10, destroying at least 4 lives.

His sentence was more than that, but yes it does seem lenient.

Truth is i didnt really care about the game or result yesterday. What worries me is the lack of goals and a complete inability to carve out clear chances to score a goal. We need better players and i agree with man with no fucking name on this matter. Its great having possession domination only because we can only defend that way but the inability to score and show that desire is exhausting the team. We will come accross more teams that will park the bus now and we need some more attacking options.

Those players will improve. There was just no experienced player to drive them on thanks to Can dozing through most of the game. And apparently, according to the Plymouth manager, our players faced 'one of the greatest defensive displays ever seen at Anfield' - which, given it was mainly just two rows of four cloggers parked in front of their area, must mean it's right up there with the glorious and historic efforts of any number of Sam Allardyce sides, Jim Smith sides and innumerable other neanderthal bus parkers. So that's all right then.

I do think our performance shows what a dreadful reserve league we're in. Added to that is the Rodgers legacy of telling coaches that results don't matter. It's bred some talented kids technically but they just don't have that hatred of losing, or not winning, that should also be there. Hopefully that's changing now, but there's not yet any 'edge' to these players.

Well to be fair, most of these lads train with the first team now, so they should be learning that on the training pitch. Some players just have that winning edge anyway, regardless of talent, players that will go the extra yard. I think Woodburn has a bit of that about him and TAA too, they both look like they will fight for it, but without a leader out there to rouse them, it's hardly surprising it didn't happen. Klopp would be first and foremost telling them to keep their cool and not lose their heads out there. They rarely get a chance, so when they do it's a case of trying to do a professional job and to show they can slot seemlessly into the side, not being a hot head and disrupting things and risking blowing what limited chances they have to prove themselves. But we didn't have the "right" blend of experience out there to assist them and support them, to push them during the game.

Players like Carragher, Gerrard, Suarez, Bellamy, Kuyt, even sodding Flanagan and many others had that something that would lift their team. Whether it be from an aggressive tackle, to fighting for every yard of the pitch, to defending from the front. That's what lifts the fans and the players alike. I don't think you can really blame that on kids, the only way they learn to express themselves in the right way on the pitch, is to have the right guidance in preparation and then when it comes to match time, on the pitch. They needed someone who would show them the way in that respect, someone who leads by example. The bottom line is, although we're alot less gutless than we have been over the last several years, we still don't have many players who scrap for everything. We have Milner and to a lesser degree, Henderson, but that's about it. If we had a real winner out there on the pitch, someone who is in the team each week, you would see a few of these lads follow suit. Lucas is on his way, Moreno too probably and Can has been piss poor for a while.

It was a poor selection, but it happens. We'll win at their place, but we really could have done without this extra game. In resting players we've just created another headache for ourselves.

I agree with most of that Mark, as ever, but we were duty bound to rest players and we all knew it would happen - if he had not played more or less that team he (Klopp) would have been guilty of negligence. They just didn't perform as well as they can nor did the ones there to guide the youngsters - it happens the first team have off-days. I don't think it need be a headache to be honest - I'd just send the kids and fringe players - I wouldn't even have key players on the bench and we should still beat them - protection of the squad for league games this year is paramount given our position and coming games - I like the cup but am happy to sacrifice it this time
