Liverpool v Palace - Pre Match Thread

Studge isn't fit and hasn't looked to be moving freely for weeks.
Moyes can beat a man and has good close control (both things Lucas seems to have lost in the position he's been asked to play) yes I'd play Moses ahead of an injured studge/ineffective Lucas/rubbish Aspas

What you're trying to day is "If Sturridge isn't fit then he shouldn't start against Palace".

If he is fit - then he starts because regardless if his form pre-injury it's still infinitely better than Moses.

Or Moyes for that matter 🙂

How many would we need against Palace to make the job against Newcastle realistic? At least 5?

We have to make up the 8 goals we are behind them, and then whatever margins they pick up against Everton, Villa and West Ham - that will be somwhere between 3 to 9 goals, depending on your level of optimism / pessimism; 6 wouldn't be too far off I think.

So, say, 14 goals for us to make up. We can run up the score against Newcastle at home, but Pulis' Palace is a different story. If we score 4, we'll need to score 10 against Newcastle - and I think, be the first team in the Premier League to score 10 on an opponent. And we'll still need to make sure we keep clean sheets.

There's more chance of Everton, Villa or West Ham nicking a point from City. I still believe that one of them has a surprise in store for City.

According to Maureen the Chavs have no chance of winning the title, and Pelligrini says they are not favourites.
Does that mean we can still win it? Let's snot Palace and see what happens.

Pellegrini says it's in their own hands now (again):

The controller has changed hands a couple of times now. It was City's, then ours, and now it's back to them. Hopefully there's one more change yet to come in our favour. We have to beat Palace regardless of the Everton result and believe that something good will come out of our own result.

Its 8 goals now. If City win their next 3 games with 1 goal it will be 11.

5-0 vs Palace and 6-0 vs Newcastle. Done.

1 thing is for sure, we won't win the league on goal difference. I think we could still win it if we win the next 2 games and we just need to ensure the team goes out knowing it is still up to them to pile the pressure on City.

Yeah. If City win their remaining games, it's done. All those goals conceded against the likes of Norwich and Swansea are looking pretty costly now.

All we can do is try and win our last two and hope for the best.

Ming, Johnson, Flannagan, Sakho, Skrtel, Allen, Gerrard, Coutinho, Sterling, Sturridge, Suarez

Team picks itself really if Sturridge is fit.

As Villa fall towards the drop zone they might also be able to spring a surprise on City but we just need to hope for the best.

Villa look horrendous at the moment, but to be fair you can never predict how they'll perform, they go from the sublime to the ridiculous game by game.

It would be fucking amazing if we rain down fire of on Palace and Newcastle.

Like 8 nil in both games. Unrelenting unstoppable wave after wave of attack.
That would be a dream if we did like 10-0 in the last two games. Can it be done - if we have the ball like we did im chelsea game.

Who's starting the pre-match Everton v city thread?this could be the most nervous game I will ever watch that we don't play in,it's gonna be serious edge of the seat nail biting stuff!!cant wait!

They're nothing without Benteke though.

That's what I thought too. Then I checked... and they beat City this season without Benteke. Fucking strange things have happened all season.

I like what Neville said about Villa - they do stupid, daft things. I initially thought he was going to scythe them, but then he went on to talk about how the likes of Agbonlahor and another I can't remember would do crazy things sometimes with their pace and score on you, and went on to cite some examples of big teams (including us) who have been on the wrong end of that before.

For what it's worth, Agbonlahor was missing from that team which beat City too. Strange shit is strange.
