Liverpool v Burnley - Match Thread

I thought we were just better off with Henderson not on the pitch?

We're winning this tonight lads. No reason in particular.

Gobshite.
When did I say something about Henderson?
I was referring to Origi and Ox starting.

Oh please. Bobby didn't start, what a fucking weird comment. He went with a totally different look at the expense of star players. It's just the end of a cycle. We should have sold one of our front three before someone realized they were playing out of their skin.

TAA can play how many games at such a poor level and not be dropped?
Bobby can play terrible for the better part of 12 months, bar 1 game, and be dropped for 1 game when?
Play our hottest player in a pointless game?
Go into a covid season with 3 CBs, 2 of which are perma-crocs?

I feel bad for THiago - which a terrible career move ...

Today is the day when the glow from last season wore off. Up to now, I was still basking in the title. Maybe some of the players have been too.

I havent seethed like this after a result in a couple years. Infuriating.

Fucking shite. No urgency at all.

Serious question. Does Thiago slow us down?
Fuck no. Thiago has been the only bright spot. It's our static front three. No movement inside the box. Often times we have Trent and Robbo pinging crosses to one maybe two players while they're hiding behind the opponents.
To score you need to work hard, remember Suarez?
Actually, remember Jota? You need movement upfront, you need to pack the box if you want to score against an opponent that is sitting back.

Horrible mix of bad luck and bad tactics...we had more shots and possession...but never looked convincing... First thing we have to repair is confidence as we seem nervous in attack but also think we need to change the system as well...this system is built 100% for VVD but because of all the personal changes we can't play like that...but Klopp hasn't changed the set-up...

Our attacks are fucking telegraphed. We looked better first half because we had a bit of randomness with origi and shaq in the front 3

Top 4 and winning a trophy seems to be the aim now.

I keep on harping back to that decision to play Jota. Terrible. Teams have figured out the front 3; having Jota really gave us a different dimension.

Mane looked knackered tonight. He needs a rest now.

We've also showed no ambition in this transfer window too.

i felt this low when Stevie slipped ... felt like we blew something special that year..
Horrible luck.
But this feels worse - because this team could have gone down as one of the greatest in our history - but a two year patch and two trophies is a let down ... and it feels that despite the VAR shit, it's our own doing.

Honestly, give me 4th today with no trophies and I'll take it ... we cannot afford to lose CL next year.

Lads weve been going down hill since March of last year. This team is in need of a massive rebuilding job, yet Klopp seems intent on playing the same players forever. Firmino should have gone last summer, Ox too and probably Keita. That we didnt sign a CB when we sold Lovren was pure hubris.

4th is looking like a massive struggle now as weve got a really tough run of games coming up.

Yeah. This team could dominate, if we actually had a squad worth of rotation. We're cheaping out with the likes of Origi still.

As we don't have better squad players, we've absolutely run the front 3 into the ground.

Tonight we the first time, I thought.. "Wow, Mane looks old". The man is only 28! But he looked so leggy.

1) Just give me 4th mate, I'm not even sure this team can get that the way this season is collapsing now.

2) Yup, horrific decision from Klopp to play any 1st teamers. He kept the team on their toes.

3) Yah but he's still our best LWF - he and Salah should play every game in the league, but fuck off Bobby. I'd rather Origi was in the middle. At least he knows how to hit the target.

4) Yup, and that is killing us. FSG will probably rue this offseason if we don't finish 4th ... b/c if we don't, this team may very tumble with the revenue hit and lack of CL $$$ too.

You feel that low? Why?

This team doesn't owe us anything. We were hobbled, the team was losing its edge, and we didn't agressively reinforce because at the height of our power a couple million people died in a pandemic. In this context though, really, you can find tragedy in this? We are whipping a tired horse. This year was the last year this team had anyway. Klopps stayed on for a rebuild? Well, here it is. It's a little early.

Yep, the effort is still there from Mane but very little comes off for him and his shooting is as bad as Bobby's recently. He's look knackered for a few games now.

Football is an escape from reality.
Even when we're poor, it's that.
This was a great team, and we've fucked ourselves, along with the help of ridiculous refereeing decisions.
Klopp may struggle to rebuild a team if he doesn't get us in the CL next year ... and the way we're going, we may be a few points away from 4th by the time the next round ends.
Then you have fucking 😀 telling us how it's ok and we're not close to 10th - Arsenal are going to be on our tail soon, the same Arsenal that were 4 points off relegation 3 weeks ago.

Yeah, but it should also be possible to shuffle things around without changing the personnel – in the past Klopp had the front 3 playing different roles, he had Mane up front or at de-facto #10, Salah up front with Shaqiri on the right etc. All of our attackers are versatile, but lately Klopp has not done anything else with the front 3 other than the usual roles even when it's become painfully clear that our attack has become stale and predictable (and the one time he did something different tactically against Palace, we scored 7 goals). It's very strange... Everyone has retreated into their shell, including the manager.

We tried something different tonight, it's just that Origi is shite. Minamino must be wondering what the fuck is going on.
