Hmmmm, by the sounds of it he is a good player and I still think we should go for it
Liverpool are ready to ditch a proposed £4 million deal that would have brought Rangers defender Danny Wilson to Anfield, according to a report from The Daily Mail.
Premier League regulations on homegrown players mean that the Reds will withdraw from the deal. They had thought that players from across Britain would count for the quota of eight homegrown players in a 25-man squad.
However, the regulations only include English and Welsh players and not Scots like Wilson.
The Gers are therefore set to miss out on a £2.5m transfer fee plus up to £1.5m of potential add-ons, something the cash-strapped Ibrox giants desperately need.
The 18-year-old, voted PFA Young Player of the Year in Scotland for last season, could therefore decide to see out the last year of his contract with Rangers before signing a pre-contract agreement in January with another club.
That could mean that Rangers receive somewhere in the region of £650,000 in compensation under FIFA rules relating to players under the age of 24.
Wilson has so far refused all offers of a new contract from the Ibrox outfit.
