Liverpool related transfer speculation

A “good defensive option” for who though - and he has to be more to play for us.

No-one costs nothing - so he has to be better than Robbo or Tsimikas as a minimum otherwise what’s the point.

If he’s not top quality, Slot isn’t going to play him, so he’ll sit on the bench, at best, wasting away.

Also, what does “good defensive option” mean for a top tier team - is he going to be up to keeping the Saka, Dembele’s or Rodrigo’s of this world quiet if he’s not offering an attacking threat?
This is true, what you save in fees you end up paying in wages. We had to pay Joe Cole (signed on a free) a fortune to leave the club because no-one would match his wages. He's not the only one either, just the first one that springs to mind.

Who do you keep from this list for one more season at least?
Trent
Morton
Nunez
Diaz
Cheesie
Robbo
Tsimi
Elliott
Jota
Ali
Kelleher
Trent? Is he playing for free?

I'll keep, Robbo, Jota and Ali ( unless he want to go).

I can see us signing:
RB
CB
LB
DM
RW
ST

I expect will leave

Kelleher
Trent
Gomez
Tsimikas
Elliott
Chiesa
Diaz
Nuñez
Morton

If We're doing the fantasy manager game where everyone is always wrong, that should be minimum €150m of sales from that lot, and only two are regular starters.

I wanted to sell Gomez but given his versatility and the amount of expected departures, I'd probably ask him to stick around.

Always wondered what living in cuckoo land was like.

LB
LCB
RB (if trent goes)
CDM
CAM
CF

That's almost a new spine needed.

Not to mention LW cover if Diaz, Jota and Nunez all go.

And RW if Salah goes

And another LCB if Virgil goes

Trying to fill them is a different matter

LB - Kerkez?
LCB - Huijsen/Hato
RB - Frimpong
CDM - Baleba
CAM - ?
CF - Isak

That'd be a dream window

I think Gomez stays, after a long injury spell, I just don't see anyone making a bid for him. On the rest, its definitely a probability. The CB option must come in knowing they're 3rd choice with ambition to be #1
The RB and LB need to be part of the 1st 11. The MF will need to be able to rotate between Lex, Dom and Grav (and be at their level), and the two FWDs we get need to be more prolific than Nunez and Diaz

I think we'll bring in 3 exceptional players for sizeable fees. Maybe a 4th if the likes of Diaz is sold on.

As I said, it won't be a bad window, it could be a brilliant window. I just think it won't be as great as some seem to expect.

Kerkez/Hato (probably kerkez though), Some RB (maybe the one hansern mentioned from eredivise; Read?), sesko. Perhaps Gordon if Diaz goes. Club might fancy cherki as a value option as lyon will probably sell.

Every chance the club goes for a Cunha over sesko though, as there's a buyout clause

I agree over kerkez & Huijsen, as there's value there. I don't think we'll go for frimpong as he's a bit too similar to Bradley (but the tayto terrier is better defending). Baleba and Isak would cost astronomical fees and I can't see them spending that.

I think the club will at least try and sign Huijsen, although obviously there'll be competition there. Seems like too big an opportunity to miss.

I want the TAA of 3 years ago to resign... not sure he still in there though.

It's a shame that the situation has deteriorated to such a degree. Local kid, hugely talented, a huge part of one of our best ever teams... and everyone is increasingly fed up of him.

Anyways, I'm sure Slot is eager to "put his own stamp on things" but hopefully we don't see too much churn. The foundation and stability laid down by Klopp and co is one of the big reasons for his success.

I think we can do a lot of what we need to by adding rather than cutting out and replacing large parts of the squad. It's unavoidable in attack but elsewhere hopefully it's more of an additive approach.

I think this season feels like a fluke season with poor competition for us... Slot was heralded for working wonders with a high turnover of new squad at Feyenoord, I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of the non-starters swapped for higher quality in the next 18 months

The club should have tried to crowd fund. I would have thrown in a few quid.

I’m sure Cunha could do a CAM job…

If the contract 3 all re-sign - then we’ll sign a CF, LB, MF and maybe a CB, probs in order of importance.

I think the LB & CF are more certain to happen regardless of what happens to the Contract 3.

In saying that - kicking the Robbo/Tsimikas can down the road is a possibility - albeit one I wouldn’t do.

Nunez is toast.

Trent leaving means we def need a RB.

Virgil leaving means we def need a CB.

Mo leaving means we’ve no chance of replacing him directly, so we’re more likely to use a combination of other players to replace him, which could include signing a forward that can play at CF or RW and using Jota, Diaz, Chiesa & Doak on the left and Danns gets more opportunity at CF - again, not ideal.

Endo, Harvey, Badger, Morton & McConnell don’t NEED to be sold, so if we have to also kick the CM issue down the road, we can.

We’ll likely let one of the keepers go and probably a few of the fringe kids - so we’ll have plenty of capacity.

Too many variables with the contract situation still, but, I hope we can re-sign all 3 and then spend big on those 3-4 players in key positions that will improve us, rather than have half the starting team needing rebuilt in one go.
