Liverpool related transfer speculation

Perhaps AM will be his long term position in the future, rather than along the flanks.

Dibling has impressed wide but the consensus is he is most dangerous as a No 10. “I don’t think you see many central players who can pick up the ball in deeper areas, back to goal, and turn the way he does,” Goldie says. “Players in those positions tend to pass – and too often sideways. He catches the eye because he gets the ball and his first thought is: ‘How quickly can I get to the goal?’ He has scored a few – that part of his game will continue to develop – and once that bit has really clicked you’re talking about a world-class talent.”

One of Dibling’s super-strengths, as Goldie puts it, is ball-carrying. “He had an incredible drive to get better and a practise mentality, the kind Beckham and Cantona have talked about, that you don’t see too much in today’s game,” Hale says.

He was introduced to the masses in April 2022 when a clip of him scoring a hat-trick at Newcastle's St James' Park went viral. It was no ordinary hat-trick - each one of his three strikes was as close to a carbon copy as it comes.

He's got a bit of the cole palmers about him

It's spend 40m now or potentially miss out on a 80m+ player. Its happened quite a lot with us.

I appreciate it leaves us short(er) than we'd like in the summer, but what's wrong with thinking long term? We did it last season with mamardashvilli, and that's seen as a potential masterstroke
Because there are no guarantees. Ask Chelsea.

It's the usual pyramid, for example 100 x £20m players or 30 x £40m players translates to 5x £80m So we'd likely have to buy 6 Diblings and even then no guarantees.

Mamardashvilli was the best keeper at the Euros. A much lower gamble than someone who's 19 yrs old and literally done nothing but impress in his first season in the PL.

Feels like rouhgly an Archie Gray level of prospect to me. Think he went for about £40m.
I can see your point, but unconfirmed (unless I missed something) that Gray - who’s an excellent talent - went for 40m?

If he did then yes, Southampton might set that as a benchmark…

Enzo Millot is another 1 to throw into the mix if we're looking at another all rounder midfielder.

Totally bossed Wharton and Anderson in that England midfield tonight.

I checked and wiki says undisclosed but believed to be around that figure.

I'd be really surprised if we could get Dibling for much less than that.

Also… keep tuned to Australia Border Patrol, for the upcoming episode where a stupid Northern Irishman declares he’s bringing in twice as much booze as he’s allowed to and a fine collection of Tayto, bisto gravies, Belfast Brew Tea, a Yorkie Easter egg and a ceramic mug with “Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the wee donkey” etched into it.

Dibling has 2 year left on his deal and they havent been able to extend his deal during the season.
Soton won't be able to hold clubs for ransom over a fee, so you'd expect about 30-40 mill.
He's been very impressive in a horrendously poor team. Easy to forget that he turned 19 just a month ago.

I think we'll be more opportunistic with signing exceptional young talent going forward. Not sure if he's that good though.

Dibling is young, talented and has a pulse, all Southampton have to do is wait for Chelsea to whack in a £70m offer.

Plays mainly on the left flank though.

=====

Former Feyenoord coach Ron Jacobs can see Igor Paixao moving to Liverpool.

Jacobs rates Paixao ahead of Cody Gakpo and believes Reds manager Arne Slot would be keen on a reunion with the Brazil international.

"I really think he makes Liverpool stronger. Arne Slot must also enjoy its development?" said Jacobs.

“(Cody) Gakpo is of course also a fantastic player and does well at Liverpool, but I like Paixão better. I wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool reports to Feyenoord."

Jacobs was asked what Paixão should go for.

“Pfft, 40 or 50 million? That's not difficult to get in England!"

Diaz is leaving, so we are going to need reinforcements

Very likely.
I think a few players will think that winning the league would be the perfect conclusion to their time at LFC.
Gomez being one of them. World cup year...
Really must be annoying for him to see the likes of Konsa, Colwill, Burn and Quansah being picked.

He can't really get picked if he's injured though, can he?

Unfortunately for him, injuries keep hitting him at key times and he always seems to be out for extended periods.

I wouldn't be too excited over Huijsen yet, only because there's rumours Madrid are interested. He's Spanish. It writes itself
