Liverpool related transfer speculation

Actually, you and your kind of thinking around transfers is the main problem, incapable of learning about past failures and coming short due to injuries and player non-availability. Its clear we are one injury away in midfield and central defence to making this season another like last.
I think there are options in MF if they keep Morton however, when Konate got injured we all noticed Quansah fell short of the task. We need a CB better than Quansah.

Nonsense.

If you watch that fan debate thing with Carragher & Scholes, this weeks episode they get into it with transfers and my god you’ll fucking squirm during the but with the Liverpool fan when they talk about how it’s only people on social media that get their knickers in a twist about transfers.

The point is - it’s not about transfers, it’s about improving the team and transfers are only one way of doing that and it’s not always successful.

The other way is coaches actually doing the job their hired to and improving the multitude of players already at the club.

We have a defender, midfielder and forward currently out - what does that mean? It means the squad players like Endo, Morton & Chiesa along with kids like Quansah, Harvey, Nyoni, Danns, Rio, McConnell have an opportunity to step up, rather than us spend money on someone who’s likely going to take time to reach Slots standard for game inclusion or spend 6 months sitting on a bench.

By all means, if top talent is available - get it - but if not - don’t bother.

Stop doom-mongering - our squads big & good enough to compete. Every team needs luck with injuries.
I saw that debate too and the Liverpool fan was sound. He actually expressed what I said a few weeks ago I think regarding Zubimendi.
Why would he come here to sit on the bench?
I do also understand not signing a striker despite having a non-scoring and a perennially injured one. It could cause some unrest.

However, our problem is still not about quantity, it's about quality.
So yeah, we can throw Morton on, but he's not really good enough, is he?
It's like having a defender who can't defend, like what's the point?

I still think there's room for a midfielder in the squad. Someone willing to come and back up Gravy and Macca, because I don't rate Jones in that position.

You're okay with leaving the backline as it is knowing we could see one of our CBs get injured anytime? You wrote a post saying we needed a CB.

I've kinda changed my mind on it. Yes we do need a CB in the long run, but I am warming to the idea of having a fullback that can cover the CB position as well. Kinda like Gomez but primarily a fullback. That would give us 5 CB's and that's how it was when Matip was around.
Also now that I've seen Gravy and Endo covering us in that position too, maybe its not an emergency.
The main issue is, just like @Hyena wrote, that Q needs to be better. He needs to be a less injury prone Matip.

I don't know if us dropping points in games this season is the result of the team not scoring enough goals or not defending tightly. We are the best team in goals for this season, something that we rarely do even when topping the table in past seasons. We are also joint best team in defending with fewest goals conceded. So what makes us win a game, solid defence or team's regular ability to finding the net. I think under Slot goals have not been the biggest concern. We have scored in all games bar 2 matches. The concern should be our lack of keeping a clean sheet when it most matters. Could we have turned those 2 losses into goalless draws if we didn't concede?. In games against Arsenal, Fulham we scored 2 goals and Newcastle 3 goals but ended up dropping points. That's not saying we don't have good defense, we have the best in the world and am proud of it. The reason we have won in games we have scored 1 goal only is due our good defending. So at the moment, i think we prioritise a CB than a striker. We don't have much options at the back in case of injuries compared to the front or the mid. We need at least another Konate in this window to guarantee us the quad.

I mean I wouldn't say no to a CB, but the question is who can we get now that fits the mould and can, pardon the pun, slot right in?
Best case scenario would be getting a PL defender but I don't see anyone letting go of a starter.
We just have to hope that our four CB's stay fit for the rest of the season.
Also Gomez just returned to training so we're in a good place right now.

I only see us signing a new CB if we get an indication that Van Dijk won't sign a new contract and the guy we're scouting suddenly becomes available. Chances of that happening within a week are between slim and none.

Yep, acquisition would be based on future rather than present needs.

Gomez returning is really huge for our stretch run.

We need Quansah to be better.

And I think he’s shown he can.

I also reject @Bluebell’s implication that he fell short because he’s not good enough - he’s only had a couple of games, no chance to build some consistency or form and Slot clearly likes to change his CB pairing as little as possible - which is a good thing.

Id still like a striker like

So would I - but if a really good one isn’t available then we should use Darwin, Danns, Chiesa, Diaz and Jota until we get to the end of the season and a player of that quality is more likely available.

We also need to then shift Darwin.

I don't disagree

But he's using Danns & chiesa sparingly, Jota and Nunez can't be trusted for different reasons, and Diaz shouldn't be playing there.

Just because there's options doesn't mean the options are good enough

No, but it also doesn’t mean there’s better options available in this window.

Using Danns & Chiesa sparingly might not be a bad thing as they’ll be fresh if we have to up their game time - same applies to Quansah, Harvey, Endo and Bradley.

To be fair to Chiesa & Danns, they’ve had injury issues and Slit is methodical in managing players minutes until the achieve the level of fitness he demands.

I’m not sure it’s a case of Slot not trusting Darwin Vs us as fans not trusting him - Slot keeps picking him, albeit as a rotation option.

I’m hoping Darwin has a little burst of form - he likes scoring against Bournemouth.

I’ve said before, I’d love us to sign a Sesko or Izak, but it’s not happening this window.

I don't think that's happening in the summer either.

I think there are still positions we can improve in the squad. I would have liked for us to get our future 1st team LB and possibly replace Morton.

However, it could ruffles some feathers, especially in LB. Morton will be the one I would replace with a better midfielder in Jan. Perhaps we already have the better midfielder in Nyoni. Let's see how Morton does today.

Yes, great news that Gomez is back in training.

I imagine if we were to sell him (I don’t see that happening) that we’d have lined up a replacement…

Jorrel Hato on His Future, Liverpool, and Visit to Anfield

Ajax's young defender, Jorrel Hato, has confirmed that he has no plans to leave the club in the January transfer window. When asked by reporters about a potential move, Hato was clear:

🗣️ "I'm not thinking about leaving Ajax this winter, and I remain with that decision. I want to finish the season with Ajax."

However, interest from the Premier League remains strong. Some of England’s top clubs have already made contact regarding a summer transfer. When asked if Liverpool could be one of the clubs he might like in the future, Hato responded briefly:

🗣️ "Could be… I don’t know."

The Dutch defender was recently spotted at Anfield, further fueling speculation about a possible move. However, he explained the reason for his visit to Liverpool:

🗣️ "I was invited by Ryan Gravenberch, I didn’t speak to a director there. Liverpool played well, and the atmosphere in the stadium was great, but there is nothing more to say."

Although Hato remains focused on finishing the season with Ajax, it is clear that his name will continue to be linked with Liverpool in the coming months.
