Do you think as a team challenging for a title that it's acceptable to have 1 trusted striker?
We don't have one - we have four.

Not only are we top scorers in the PL (and by 6 goals no less) but we are one of only three teams to have 2 scorers in the Top 10 (Mo 1st and Diaz 10th), Chelsea (3rd and 9th) & Brentford (4th & 7th) are the others.

We are one of only three teams to have 3 (Gakpo at 22nd our third) in the Top 22, Spurs (11th, 15th and 15th) & Villa (10th, 15th and 22nd) the others. Jota is one goal behind in 27th.

Arsenal, our only real rivals, have only one player in the Top 22 !

Perspective mate, perspective !

Striker, not forward. A striker works well at the 9 position and brings in other players. We have jota who is injury prone.

Last season arsenal were flying with trossard, saka and martinelli doing the scoring....but they were found out when the flanks were shut down and they needed a 9.

Yesterday we were fucking dire until we brought on a 9.

Perspective is all well and good when looking at stats, but the old adage is as true now as it ever was; "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics"

THe problem this lot we have usually just stop shooting collectively and the goals dry up. We have teams fighting for higher positions/survival in the 2nd half of season and it gets harder to score, as teams can become very low blockish. The way I see it, Diaz is only good against poorer defenses, Nunez is Nunez, Jota unreliable, and Mo is never as good as the first half of the season. We need to win games, these draws are why we lost the league by one point twice. Sometimes a new attacker gives that push, and also opposition will need to work him out, but the push willgive the whole team a lift to get wins rather than draws.

Again, look at forest. 1 chance, 1 goal. A clinical forward.
Yes leagues are won by having a strong defence, strong midfield, and goals across everywhere; we don't have goals from midfield, very few from defence, and we're heavily reliant on 3 out of 4 players to score (as all 4 are rarely on the pitch together). Gakpo is clinical but more sensible, diaz is fucking erratic, Mo is usually covering up a lot of poor planning with his goals, and jota (when fit) is boom or bust

Nunez needs to go, ideally with a replacement in beforehand

I think this deserves a thread of its own.
We had 20 GAs from Lex and Dom last season, we aren't gonna get that this season. Trent is shit from set plays even though we have 4-5 players over 6ft

... and yet Chelsea, and United, with no champions league, lower league placement, smaller stadium revenue, fewer commerical deals, lower shirt sales, etc., spends a billion quid - and everything's just dandy. Make it make sense.

United can’t afford to sign any more players because they’ve ran up a mountain of debt which they now have to service rather than buy.

They’ll listen to offers for anyone… including the greatest young midfielder ever… Manoo!!!

Chelsea are basically selling anything that’s not nailed down… even if it to themselves… to raise money. Soon they’ll have to start selling the players they bought probably at a loss… sounds like Chelsea are running their own little internal Ponzi scheme - which means it’ll catch up to them eventually.

We knew this loss was coming - its not a shock - no CL took about £50m revenue off us - but we had a bit of a transfer splurge on midfielders, so given our financial cautiousness, I wouldn’t expect it too impact much more than being even more cautious for a season.

Honestly, I don't think we can afford a mega TAA contract for a mediocre player who SOMETIMES is in the sublime, when he's bothered.

Sad to say. It also shows how handy a 40M fee for the fella would be

I bought a house to rent out, and we missed a couple months of rent as the tenants changed.

I'm not going to make repairs. It's too expensive. I'll get to it later.

Oh, the equity? Well, I bought the house for 300k and it's worth about 6 million now. I just don't want to go nuts, you know?

Why should you - value of your house is still going up, the rent you receive is higher than ever and all the repairs will do is make a bunch of people who do little else other than stand around staring at your house, happy and content… for a short while (as little as 90 minutes) before the decide they don’t like the new paint job and demand you immediately repaint it with something else and also buy an expensive new couch for the residents that can be stored in the garage in case the expensive almost new couch they have gets a small rip or if it starts to sag a bit.

Mind you… there’s a piece of native South American themed furniture sitting seemingly discarded, that needs to be on Facebook Marketplace sooner rather than later because…. There’s a bit of it “off to the side” and for some reason anyone who trys to sit on it misses and falls over, head butting something.

Hopefully someone will pick it up…

The thing is they can allow for both CL qualification this season and the increased match-day revenue from the Anfield Road end. Both are pretty much equally guaranteed at this point.

A significant loss being published shows the knife edge we live on regarding being in the Champions League. In the previous format, the existing wage bill is for a squad consistently getting into the QFs and beyond. Pleasingly for the accountants, more money is front-loaded into the league stage this time, providing some more security.

I wouldn't be shocked to see more contracts that flux in terms of amounts regarding which competition they are playing in. Maybe loads already are, I don't know, but from the outside, it appears the discrepancy between the two competitions has to be one of the greatest challenges/risks in managing the books.

There would be a strong expectation that VVD, and Salah would be capable of keeping us in the CL throughout their contracts.

barca want Diaz according to one rag and are willing to pay £69m... I would love it if it were true but Barca have issues registering Dani Olmo

I think the problem with the registration is down to La liga rules. They just sold off lengthy season tickets in the executive boxes.

So City are wrapping up 3 Jan signings according to old Fabrizio, and we still can’t wrap up new contracts for some of the best players this club has seen or may ever see. It’s actually appalling, and when will serious questions begin to be asked? Not just of Richard’s, but the ownership.

As I understand it, the problem is they were too late doing the boxes deal, and Olmo had been de-registered. They now have the financial capacity to register him, but the league's rules won't allow him to be registered twice in one season. What they needed to do was get their house in order in order to maintain the original registration, and not let it lapse.
La Liga is allowing him to still play pending the outcome of any final appeals, but if Barca are not permitted to re-register him then they would potentially have capacity to register someone else in his place (although perhaps not as much capacity as they might think as they'll incur a big hit writing Olmo's value off).
They're massive fannies.

Just to add, that I think the best Barca can hope for (barring a successful appeal) is that Olmo signs for someone else for 6 months and then re-joins them on a free in the summer. But they will still take a massive financial hit as they'll have to write him off in full, rather than spreading his cost over the life on the contract - although ultimately this is just timing of the accounting expense, it wouldn't incur any additional cash costs.
That relies on the player honouring the terms of his original agreement with them. But if he's available on a free then there's a good chance he'll get better financial offers from elsewhere (teams paying him higher wages as they don't need to pay a transfer fee). If he signs for one such club, I could see Barca trying to sue that club (or more likely La Liga) for compensation, or at least threatening to do so to deter other clubs from signing him. But the reality is it's their own fault, as per.

You wont find them being questioned here mate, SCM is saturated with FSG lover boys, Linda’s casted her spell. 15 years of putting up with their shit and it’s turning blind eye after blind eye. Never shown the ambition, Klopp is the sole driving force behind any success we’ve had in that time.

That’s not the furniture. Look carefully.

It’s actually a real donkey the previous tenant left behind in the yard, and its now kicking up a strop cos its not been fed for months.

Maybe we could get our money back by charging kids to ride around on Darwin’s back for a few minutes before games at Anfield…

We are getting no one and selling no one till the summer, I am confident of that. I just hope we have enough fuel in the tank to go all the way....
We've been here before when the club did not invest at critical junctures and we failed by a few points to win a title... For some the journey of season is far more important than titles.
We might be even weaker after Jan as Morton looks to be going on loan and Steph will be recalled and be going somewhere else. Trent's antics means Konate will have to work harder and thus will be susceptible to injuries and Robbo will continue to give away the ball, foul in dangerous areas, and in general be a liability.

Yes, if something was getting done, it would have got done by now.
The only transfer news we're getting this month is about outgoing loans at the end of the month because we want to see what the injury situation is before we dump McConnell, Danns, Morton etc.

What happens if we get injuries in Feb, March or April? I would recall Nat Phillips, Steph and Owen Beck. I think all 3 could help with team depth.
