Liverpool related transfer speculation

Liverpool and Paris St-Germain are in pole position to sign Lyon's French midfielder Rayan Cherki and could make a move in January to sign the 21-year-old. (Foot Mercato - in French)

He’s 18 though and probably not finished growing yet. 🙂

I love these conversations about defenders - since Klopp took over all our main CB's have been 6ft3 or above - and it has me thinking all the time now that anything shorter than 6ft3 is not going to be good enough. I have to admit - I look at VVD, and I always think - how the fuck do we replace him ? - there is no defender in world football that has his size/pace and that aura about them. He better sign a new contract - coz I cannot do without him, and quite frankly every defender mentioned thus far falls below expectation. I don't want a 6ft2inch short arse in our backline.

Really hope we take a chance on him, we really need to spice up our attack for the second part of the season.

I think we really missed a trick not going after that Amoura chap after he terrorised us last season.

Thats not proof. I would like to be hot looking, with a body of adonis, and endowed like the stereotype black guy, about 6 inches taller, with 7 followed by 6 zeros in the bank and a steady income of 70-80k a month in sterling. A hot GF who isn't on OF and finally intellectual muscle. I have none of these.
If we look at Bournmouth's buying record its the 17-30m player, thats market I am looking at for gems

The problem with buying a striker is there aren't any guarantees. Salah was seen as a risk at the time. The only player hitting numbers in Europe who isn't over 30 and isn't in a shit league or completely unavailable is that other Egyptian dude but he's probs just having a blip.

So much money and so little certainty. Mcrappe isn't even hitting anywhere near the numbers you'd expect at Madrid. PSG seem to be doing better without him.

I dunno. Doesn't seem to be rich pickings anywhere.

On paper, I wouldn’t be opposed to adding another attacking midfielder. Based on their current output, I don’t think Jones, Elliott, and Szoboszlai are contributing enough goals and assists to rule it out entirely. However, it’s not a priority—more of a case of acting if the right player becomes available at the right price. As Woland mentioned, the striker market is both limited and risky, so supplementing creativity and goals from midfield wouldn’t be the worst idea. Whether Cherki is the right option, though, is another matter entirely.

Yeah, the transfer market for a 9 isn't great. Thats why it could make sense to add a free transfer (David) and going for a player that can operate in different positions and improve going forward.
Joao Pedro can play anywhere in attack which makes it more okay to pay for the versatility.

That's from a small sample of the 11 games he has played this season. It means square root of fuck all. Have a look at his record over 127 league games against Harvey's 124. As I say, in a significantly tougher league.

It makes no sense for us to sign Cherki.

Klopp purchased 3Cbs, VVD, Konate and Ben Davies (who may not have been his purchase but was part of his era). Ben was none of those. He was a shit signing, even Klopp from the get go knew that

This kid was playing for Roma last season I think. The Ukrainian they signed is even better imho. If the lazy scot pulled his finger out of his ass, he might find more players around Europe that will cost £20-£40m and help us win #20

Strikers Are difficult. I like Szesko, and JP too, but I am not completely convinced about any of them. They also are different kinds of strikers.

It absolutely makes no sense, and I don't think we'll sign him, butttt the possibility of us signing him just intrigues me. He'll be the least Liverpool player we've signed in the past 10 years.
