Liverpool related transfer speculation

J. Pedro doesn't look like a good enough finisher for me.
Exactly, and those wettung themselves over Cunha, think hard, he was like 5th choice at AM, and did not fare any better in other clubs as well. That Wolves team should not be suferring that badly based on the talent they allegedly have...maybe they are actually not that great after all.

Cunha has scored more than 10 goals ONCE in his career. Its a big no.

Pedro is a good finisher, but Brighton play him to deep at times.

The problem - is we have Ben Doak who does similar dribbling things right ? - he looks very good - did he have any impact against the 5-0 thrashing they got from Spurs today ?
I have no idea, but I'd take a left footed Dibling over Doak as is. I don't know, it's just something about him that tells me that he has a higher ceiling than Doak.
The first time I saw him for real was against us in the 3-2 game a few weeks ago. Watched a few compilations on YouTube since then. Despite having the douchy Grealish look, he's got more to his game. The main difference is his work rate, but like Grealish he's a good dribbler and seems to easily get away from defenders. Other strengths are his vision and playmaking abilities. He's just elegant on the ball.

Only has 1 goal in the 15 games he's played in the prem this season, but I wouldn't wait.
We should sign him before he starts producing, because I really believe this kid is going places.

Main position: right wing, but can also play behind the striker in an attacking midfield role.

The only issue is, what do we do with Chiesa and Doak?

Seriously?!

Southampton would probably take around £30 mill for him.

Dribbling or whatever his name is, is absolutely fucking shite.

Plus we don’t have money to be throwing around at teenagers that’ll get us nowhere until 2030. Leave him to Chelsea and let him rot in their basement before long he’ll be back at Southampton in the championship. You’re welcome.

After picking myself up off the floor from reading Modo praising an English player… I have to point out that the team that were adamant that Lavia that Chelsea stood & delivered (see what I did there?) £58m are not going to sell Officer Dibble for £30m.

Oh wow I forgot.
However...

Ahead of Saints' home Premier League encounter with Tottenham on Sunday, Martin said: "I was told some rumours about Man Utd, one was a bid of £21m.

"I'm not sure you'll get his left foot for that."

However, Martin admitted Southampton are having trouble renewing Dibling's deal, saying: "We have offered him a contract, a really good contract for someone his age.

"At the minute, I don't think his agent agrees, so that's where we're at.

I don't think having Doak is a good reason to not be interested in Dibling. Imagine a world where we have both. Either could move onto the left too if needed. Equally, only one of them might make it at the true elite level.

If he's available, it seems worth being in the conversation. However we obviously have other flaws that we need to address this season rather than looking 2-3 ahead (but appreciate we need to do both)

Agree

It also screams "why buy coutinho when we've got suso"

The club would need a clear development pathway for Dibling if things are going to work; without it, their progress risks stalling due to limited opportunities. Fabio Carvalho is a perfect example—whatever potential we saw in him went unrealised because of poor planning, which frustrated both the player and the club. For Ben Doak to get regular game time, let alone someone like Tyler Dibling, some tough decisions would need to be made. Elite clubs can realistically only accommodate two or three developmental players at a time while staying competitive. Right now, I’d argue Quansah and Bradley are still part of that group, and likely will be next season. Then there’s Nyoni, who looks ready to step up soon as well. Flogging Chiesa might feel like an easy, knee-jerk solution right now, but unless something drastic happens, the club is almost certainly going to give him time to prove himself.

Slot also has a different approach compared to Klopp when it comes to young players. He’s clearly more ruthless, showing less patience if they don’t hit the required standard, and we saw him ship out plenty of players over the summer, which makes it even more important to strike the right balance. He still needs to maintain enough experience in the squad to mount a proper title challenge because, let’s face it, that’s what his job depends on. Without clear answers on how the squad will be managed and how development plans will work, it’s hard to back a move for someone like Dibling right now. Unless Chiesa goes it would make more sense to revisit the opportunity later, even if it means paying a higher fee. Plenty will grumble about missed chances and poor scouting, but more often than not having the pathway in place is as important as saving a few quid.

I get what you're saying and I agree to an extent, but Dibling will leave Southampton soon and if Man U, Chelsea, Spurs, City get their hands on him we can kiss that chance to buy him in the future good bye.

We've been late to the party several times in the past with players like Bellingham, Bale, Walcott, Phil Jones, Dele Alli etc, for good or bad.

A good trade off might be to buy Dibling but let him stay with Southampton for another season.

Look - fuck youth - this January - we need more, we need a consistent goal scorer and midfielder. I need Bradley back to be our No. 1 RB - can't have Trent doing the jogging back and losing his man in each game. Trent is behaving like Rashford - and I understand that - he shares the same agent I think.
