'Liverpool Owners Seek Replacement for Roy Hodgson'

Just to clarify regarding Tage.

He's not from LFC.no. He lives on Anfield Road, runs a B&B/small travel agency for LFC fans, and he's been to 375 LFC matches in a row on latest count. I think he's pretty well connected and certainly knows quite a few ex-players as he hires them as guides around the stadium and in Liverpool etc for his travel agency.

So, I don't know if he's info is true or not. But it's has at least got a good chance of being valid.

The lad, Tage Herstad, is not a bullshitter. Which is why I'm starting to feel a bit optimistic about this.

More about the same coming around now. Surely it has to be right? Different sources, but message the same. Think he take to his wings soon..

Latest... Roy has signed his forms to leave. Please let it be the truth... Not confirmed, but of a good source ;-) #for #lfc

Forms? What forms? He wouldn't need to sign any that I'm aware of.

(Please let this be true though.)
[/quote]

Please pay him extra to sign a form where he promises to never ever speak about Liverpool again after he leaves.

He's counted how many games he's been to?

And told people.

If the owners are worried about what he might say, his agent might well try and squeeze more cash out of them. Personally I'd tell both Roy and his agent to publish and be damned.

Er, so what's going on?

Thommo and Kenny to take over for the rest of the season? Fair enough.

But what was that bit about McLeish?!

Though discussions of their success at the Boston Red Sox have focused on the appointment of the relatively untried Theo Epstein as evidence of their love of young and highly intelligent managers, Epstein was their general manager – not their coach. The baseball man who turned the Red Sox around was Terry Francona, a seasoned baseball pro, who arrived in 2004, aged 45, with prior experience of handling the truculent pitcher Curt Schilling, whom the club had just signed from the Philadelphia Phillies and who was to prove critical to their first world series championship since 1918. He had also managed to get the best from Michael Jordan at the Birmingham Barons franchise. Now Henry wants someone able to work similar wonders on Fernando Torres.

But Francona was also amenable to the modern baseball ways that the Americans want now to adapt to football, having worked as a bench coach at the Oakland Athletics where general manager Billy Beane introduced the sabermetrics system. The problem for Henry, Werner and their Fenway Sports Group is not to find a modern young manager – there are plenty of those around – but one capable of beginning to lift players in the way that Francona did at Boston, where he remains manager to this day.

There is no blueprint between american sports and football. It is a big differnece in culture and organization. It seems like they are not aware, and think it is just to adopt a GM and he will run the club succesfully for them. But it is not.

American sports, be it baseball, hockey, american football or basket is all about reaching the play offs and pull one season off. If you do badly youll actually be rewarded for that as the lower rated teams are favoured in drafts later. All moves are clocked and measured, and reading statistics are part of it. Youll know immideately how many yards this guy run or how much ice time this guy clocked. Thats part of their game. The fans are spectators mostly and they pay big bocks for entertainment outside what actually happens on the field.

Football is different. The fans are supporters. They care in a different way. One disastrous season can even move your team down a dvision. Not to mention it hampers your income big way as it ruins your chances to compete in Europe etc. A poor rating for your club make it suffer, holds it back. Yes we need a CEO ( I cant fucking believe that noone is at the helm) but more important now, we need te team to start pulling together. It is not time to hide away as boardmembers in silence awaiting the interviews with another guy that doesnt know Liverpool FC. Then we will be stuck with Comolli and the new CEO who dont know Liverpool to call the important shots.

In football it is about much more than the statistics. Its emotions. You can have inefficient players that are loved for their skills, and efficient players who are hated for their lack of beauty. We dont break up the game every 3rd minute but it flows through the end of the game, and we dont know when the ref calls it the end. It is different. And dont get me wrong. i love hockey, I am amused by American football and I even have attended NBA matches. Baseball I dont have a clue, but it strucks me that the real baseball fans are probably the closest we get to our football through their genious interest and love for their club, but it is still all about maths, statistics and other values than we have. I dont believe in a blueprint, and I am very worried that this will drag out due to lack of understanding.

Redtops are reporting owen coyle tops the list for roys replacement.

I thought they wanted fresh blood?

Can't they just bring in some dirt cheap athletic bilbao legend who'll look the part in a suit, wave his arms about frantically in the dugout et al

I like the ones who stand in the technical area with hands in pockets even thoush its pissing rain.

Incidentally wouldnt it be ironic if Roy was replaced by the only manager he did the double over

You should print that off and send it to the owners. If they don't already have a feel for the differences, they will after reading that.

I wouldn't bother. The only difference between the sports is that football is still largely pre-renaissance.

The whole thing is shite. I thought that when Broughton and Purslow hiring hodgson in the first place would show what happens when non-football people are to make these decisions.... But when you look around today there are a host of socalled football personalities defending him still... What the hell is going on. Do they know or do they just pretend? No fans wants him. Thats for sure, but still there were lots of fans happy with the appointment in the first place.

So now we are to hope that a 38 y.o. french guy is to come up with the most sensible name. A name that fits some criterias that accidentally worked in Baseball, which is one of the most statistical sports ever. And he has to be young. That is obviously one of the criterias.

To me the whole thing is insane. I just dont get it. I cant get my head around the enormous backing Hodgson gets from media and football personalities, and I dont get that all fans are overconfident that Tom Werner should suddenly get his man after a few words with Damien Comolli..... And I dont get the fact that when a club are reaching crisis as we are now, the board doesnt even bother to take a week out in Liverpool to feel on their pulse what is going on. Show their face and speak to the fans. Without the fans the club is nothing... Dont they get this?

I am fucked... This is bad... It is like the fucking grounddog day or whatever that movie was called... It is the same shitty fucking media stories everywhere. The wording is exact the same, and the quotes from owners or whoever is non-existant. Fuck.

Pours a double Jack Daniels for Insig.

We all feel the same. I find myself getting up in the middle of the night to check the internet for news of Roy getting the boot!

Fuck, its been futile... Talk about frustration!
