Olympiakos also made an enquiry for midfielder Lucas Leiva, however the Reds demanded £13.5million for the Brazilian.

Haha. Gotta love that Christian Purslow fella. He's got a cracking sense of humour.

As I've said before, I think Lucas is worth 12m+

Alright, it's not funny the second time around.

Ha.

If this is true, it's a shit bit of business.

And if he is as much of a disturbance behind the scenes as rumours suggest, then lock him in a room with Stevie's Phil Collins collection and let nature take its course.

We should definitely get more money for him, he may not be as good as he thinks he is, but he's worth more than that

Greek newspaper SportDay claims Olympiakos will initially pay the Reds €4million.

If the Greek side win the league next year, the fee will rise to €6million and if Riera is moved on in the future, Liverpool will receive 50% of the fee

Thats not to bad. 4 mill rising to 6, 50 % sell on fee. Good deal!

50%? Thats a sizeable chunk for a sell on fee

Yeah, that'd be pretty good business IMO.

I dare say Uncle Albert will be hoping for Athens rather than Moscow as his destination.

It is, but at 29 now, if he moves again it's likely to be for no more than about £2m-£3m.

but even if it is 2m, we still get 1m. Thats more wages paid for than a 25% fee would have gotten

still, best wait until hes actually sold before i start allocating his further sell on fee

50% is more than 25%? Thanks for that analysis.

Another mediocre player out through the revolving door.

I wonder what mediocre player we'll sign as his replacement...

so what top class wide midfielder can we secure on our limited budget?
Joe Cole?
YAY!

According to the Greek media, Rieras agent is in Athens. So this deal could be concluded very soon.

Rieras brother also plays in the Greek league, which could help him make the right decision and FUCK OFF.

Ha, good call!

We're covered on the left with Jovanovic and Cole. Ring up Juventus and take the 5 million from them! I'd prefer the cash up front as an alternative from Olympiakos.

i think its quite likely that Olympiakos would do everything in their power to keep Riera instead of selling him in a year or two and having to give us 50%

Second meeting just ended betweem Rieras agent and Olympiakos. Apparently both parties are very close to an agreement, with a few small details to be ironed out at a third meeting tomorrow. The Greek press is expecting 95% an agreement.

YAY!!

:... and is the fee only €5 million?
I would like to think it's a bit more than that.

Also, Olympiakos (the 'big club of the Port', i.e. Piraeus) paid 5.2 mil euro to Liverpool, plus 250 K euro for every championship that Olympiakos will win in the next four years plus 50% of any 'surplus value' (i.e. anything over 5.2. mil euro) if he should be sold later.

Rieras agent supposedly asked for an increase in wages during the second meeting, seems as though the deal will still go through tomorrow regardless. According to some poster on TIA he'll be earning a lot of money.

Fuck me what a horrible twat Riera is, good riddance.

Thanks Hansern!

Here's hoping Olympiakos win the Greek title for the next 4 years.

How much 5.2m euro in pounds?
