Ha, them pesky Ruskies are smarter than we thought, not in that Riera is not a snip at £6m, but being over a barrel and all, out on loan for the rest of this and next and then take him for buttons.
Anyways, fuck that great news about Mascher. I was convinced he would be on his way and probably in January, what happened to all this guff about his Mrs?
Was it all a smoke screen to get us to give him the wages he deserves (by comparison to everyone else that is)

We're not really over a barrel with regards to Riera though are we Vlad? If they don't want to pay up a decent transfer fee for him now, then we can just hold onto him until the end of the season (then ship him out).

Agree with you about Mascher, it is great news (i just hope he signs up soon).

Not sure if I get the logic.,Raf..we don't sell him for peanuts now, but keep him for a season and THEN sell him for peanuts? ???

Agree about Masherano.
[/quote]

I meant that we don't have to send him out on loan now mate. We can wait out the remainder of this season (8 or so games) and then sell him off in the summer.

We are over a barrel regardless of when he goes as he is not going to play again - under Rafa at least

Maybe we've been whooshed... I remember falling for Liam's "Aldridge was a United fan" thing when I was drunk once.

It's what I got told by the lad who tells me the team news and other snippets that have come to pass. Maybe he'll leave at the end of the season. Maybe the lad got it wrong but he was quite clear about it when I spoke to him.

Maybe so.

I just think that if we wait until the main transfer window opens up again, there should be enough clubs interested to ensure that we get a decent price.

Who`? Riera or Ince? Yes, I´m feeling confused today (also).

According to Greek media, we have accepted a bid of 5 mill euros.

Shite sum if true.

That is really, really poor if true. What's the point? Unless he really is a horrible influence in the dressing room, we aren't going to be able to replace him with close to his quality, and he's not even that great.

We need more natural width, not less. Why are we cycling through our attacking talent when we need more, not less.

Why not get rid of Babel?

Ah well. Some really clever purchases will need to be made, good luck Hodgson.

Well you've got to finish your dinner before you can enjoy your chocolate biscuts, so hopefully all these fees will be adding up to a couple of tasty replacements.

As for Riera? Hes slow and nowhere near good enough to put up with his disruptive influence. See you later.

Would think hes worth at least 7 million Euros though.

I'm guessing it's exactly that Farky, bad influence and perhaps wants to leave anyway. He's 29 and has been (allegedly) disruptive and not exactly a big hit, so..

Just for a second I got excited when I saw the 6M and thought, yep that's more like the price he's worth.

Shite deal. We won't be able to get close to his quality unless we sign someone who turns out to be like winning the lottery.

When asked about interest in the winger, Hodgson said:

“I've hardly seen him play at all. I'll only have an opinion about him.

That will be more informed when I've seen him play but at the moment some players like Insua, or Riera, decisions were made about what will happen to them last season and really, I'm coming in on the back of it.â€

Come on Roy get involved! Its like hes got no influence on anything!

What do you want for your dinner Roy? "Really these decisions were made last night by Mrs Hodgson, when she decided what to take out the freezer. I've not got much say in the matter, no".

Similar things happened when Rafa took over though. He'd asked if he could keep hold of Heskey and at least have a look at him, and was told by Parry that the club had already decided he had to go, to appease the fans more than anything. We also told him that the Cisse signing would be going ahead. So it's nothing new.

Selling Riera is stupid. OK so he smacked a kid about - Peter Harvey nearly killed one with a dumbbell in his class last year and everyone supported him.

Yeah Mark I suppose thats true but still, its not doing much to lift fears that hes a bit of a patsy.

Hopefully he is just using a bit of tact and doesnt want them anyway.

Can't win really can he? If he comes in and says he's making a stand, Insua and Riera are going nowhere then noone's gonna be too pleased at that either are they?

It'd make sense to me. We can't afford to be too picky, although as Mark says, if the stuff about him being really disruptive (i.e. the rumours of him punching people) are anywhere near close, you still have to draw a line.

He has been here 18 days, and as has been said , it's not unreasonable some decisions were taken before then, things had to move on with or without a manager in place, for all they knew then we could still be without one. I also expect Kenny was probably more involved in some of those pre-Hodgson decisions, but no one seems to have brought that possibility up.
Like Crumpy, I would rather have seen Riera stay, and if he did have to go look at a bit more, but we are building up the pot. If Cole is in the bag, it makes sense.

regards

if we did keep Insua and Riera i wouldn't be fussed but neither do i care that they are going. I just think some would criticise him either way - on one hand he's a yes man cunt on the other he's an incompetent cunt who makes a stand over shit players.

Regarding how deals are in place before a manager arrives, its funny how Hodgson gets stick for these whereas Benitez lovers would always discount the Owen and Cisse deals whenever talking about his transfer deals.

bargain purchase...

i think he has a lot about him.

We obviously needed to get rid of him as he is a complete tool.. However - a larger fee would have been nice 🙁

Arrrgh!

We missing a great opportunity in not picking up Alan Dzagoev from CSKA as part of the deal!

Very similiar style to that of Ozil and Arshavin - but has more composure on the ball, which allows him to play out wide and central.

Judging by their track records, Roopy and KHL would be more than capable of replacing Macia! 😛

Well, maybe. It would worry me though that Roopy thinks Gilardino's a good player and that KHL's radar stretches only as far as Denmark. 😉

Hey he scored just as many goals at Wayne Rooney & Fernando Torres did at the World Cup, and he played far less than they did!

QUALITY  😉

Dzagoev is quality.

For sure... performed brilliantly against United.

Scored the first, and assistant for the third.

I'd sooner sell Babel and keep Riera.

At least we'll never have to see Yossi on the left again. That was fucking painful, mental and ridiculous.

The Greeks seem to think they've got him..

Olympiakos have agreed a fee with Liverpool for Spanish international Albert Riera, with the winger only left to agree personal terms.

Albert Riera - set to leave Liverpool

Greek newspaper SportDay claims Olympiakos will initially pay the Reds €4million.

If the Greek side win the league next year, the fee will rise to €6million and if Riera is moved on in the future, Liverpool will receive 50% of the fee.

Riera’s agent Angel Castell will meet Olympiakos chariman Socratis Kokkalis within the next few days to agree personal terms.

Sito Riera, who plays in Greece and is Riera’s younger brother, also admitted he would welcome the 28-year-old to Greece.

“What I know is that my brother is currently in Switzerland, to prepare for the season with Liverpool.

“Beyond that I know nothing except what is being said.

“I hope that he comes to Greece. I wiill be very happy to be in the same city as him.â€

Olympiakos also made an enquiry for midfielder Lucas Leiva, however the Reds demanded £13.5million for the Brazilian.
