Line Up vs Villa

@Rory Fitzgerald what are your thoughts on our line up? Same as Stoke?

I'd be interested to know your thoughts on how you think we'll play once the injured are back (Enrique, Flanno, Allen and Studge)

There is a temptation there now that Sturridge is back to start all 4 i.e. Suarez, Sturridge, Coutinho and Sterling. I would not like to see this as it could quickly end up being a 4-2-4 and if Gerrard & Lucas are in midfield then you could drive a bus through it. We paid the price heavily for something similar at Southampton last season.

We'll have plenty of the ball against Villa and plenty of attacking options if we just pick 3 from the 4. If we go overboard we leave ourselves open to a sucker punch and that is what Villa will be playing for.

If Sturridge is good to start I would drop Coutinho on current form of those available. Sterling and Henderson to swap positions on each wing with Lucas & Gerrard in the center.

I'd go
--------------------Ming--------------------
Johnson--Skrtel--Sahko--Cissokho
---Gerrard----Lucas---Henderson---
-----------------Coutinho-----------------
--------Sturridge--------Suarez--------

Based upon the many games they've started together, it's hard to disagree.

Ha ha - maybe I should have said I think they are our best two CBs.

I can't even begin to pick a team for this match. I want to SG at DM again, I want Toure & Sakho as our CBs, I want Johnson at LB and Kelly at RB, I want to see Suarez, Coutinho, Sturridge and Sterling all on the pitch and I want to see Ibe come on. Now make a team out of that if you will !

Drop Sterling? He's been one of our best players by miles recently!

After Suarez he's been our best player.

Is that better?

sure.

Sterling might have been our best player but it's just too bad that he's competing with Sturidge in this case.
We need three central midfielders on the pitch. Hendo can cover the right flank.

Now English isn't my first language but that sentence seems a bit weird to me.

There's nothing wring with SO's sentence there. Onions, don't let some Skando tell you how to speak your own fucking language. You can say something is better 'by miles' in English Modo. Deal with it.

It will either be the same team that played gainst Stoke or he'll start Sturridge and play 4-2-2-2.
He might let Sturridge get another 30 mins and then start in the FA cup. Sakho will probably be involved next weekend aswell.

I dunno, to me it looks like he's competing with Coutinho, a competition that on current form, he should win.

If we had another creative player like Coutinho in midfield who could drift inwards and pick a pass. Sure.
But we don't.

I have a bad feeling about this one

It is a bit of an unstoppable force against an immovable object. They've only conceded 11 away goals (compared to our concession of 20 away goals!), but we're scoring for fun at home.

Logic looses to impending doom every time.

They're in awful form. But Lambert is a decent manager and they beat us last season at Anfield.
It wont be easy but lets hope our momentum at home will be enough to get the 3 points.

We just have the best, and one of the best, strikers in the league, an inform and dangerous winger, and a solid midfield. We don't need Coutinho for every game.

I might sound like a dick now, but who did we bring on against Oldham after 45 minutes? Lucas and...
Why did we do this? Let me remind you that Sterling and Hendo were on the pitch.

Nicked from RAWK:

The first XI that trained today was Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Toure, Cissokho, Sterling, Henderson, Gerrard, Coutinho, Sturridge, Suarez < they were all in green bibs, the likes of Lucas, Allen, Moses, Aspas, Alberto, Kelly, Sakho were in orange.

If he actually picks that team, it would restore my respect for Rodgers following his transgender fetish
