Really thought we would take something from that game, based on the performance in Madrid and the application shown by the so called 2nd string, but we reverted to type and did everything thats been wrong all season. Lovren is just so far from having his head in the game at this point its funny, he needs to be dropped fast. Gerrard again didnt offer anything defensively and sparingly little on the attack. Henderson, I will give a pass on the suspicion from the way hes playing that hes been carrying a knock for the past 3 weeks, he doesnt seem to be moving well at all. Johnson, Balotelli, Coutinho same as before.
On the plus side, Can looks a real player once he burns off those doughnuts hes built up waiting for game, Sterling had a lot more fight in him than at any point in the last 2 months and well thats about it.
We might if results go against us finish this weekend in the bottom half, and we really couldnt complain, we have been dreadful so far this season. For the first time I think the scale of the job is getting to Rodgers, he considerably over achieved by all expectations last year and now we have reverted back to the norm. He has lost faith in his own philosophy (XI behind the ball at every corner) and his decision making is very unclear at this point. Balotelli up top on his own then replaced when we switch to a front 2? Dropping Lucas (who Im not a fan of) after a really impressive game midweek? Lovren over Toure after the performance he put in at the Bernebeu. We just seem devoid of ideas, the international break is coming at a good time because we really need to step back and take a breath, its been fucking awful and persisting with the same players in the same system is highly unlikely to improve things.
I really hope this doesnt turn into the Sturridge show and we just swap Sturridge for Balotelli assuming the glaring holes int he team will disappear once we do so. Thats not going to happen.

we weren't good enough, they're physical and press well and we didn't deal with it and couldn't break them down. But they weren't battrring us with their play. It was tight because we kept it tight, with a goalscorer it might have been different, but if we should have had a decision, it's not dependant on performance whether you were worthy of it. If it's a pen it's a pen, regardless. It's not defeatist or mid table mentality, you argue about decisions no matter where you are, it's called fairness.
