LFC v Chavski match thread

Of course it is, but who's to decide what's offensive if not the mods? I for one reckon any poster constantly pushing buttons which he knows to be inflammatory qualifies 100% for that description. Nor BTW do I think the "Use the ignore button" argument is a strong one - doing that can make any discussion bitty and frustrating to follow. It's an absolute last resort, but with Modo you'd be doing it at least half the time he "contributes" to a thread.

Fair point, personally I don't think Modo crosses that line, but then again I'm not one of the ones who he tries to wind up.

Quite. And that's yet another reason why it makes one wonder why so many passes go back to Mignolet to boot upfield, because he couldn't hit a long ball on target even if he had the time to compose himself.

It was frustrating.

Chelsea closed off our outlet by pressing us high up the pitch for the restarts. Once or twice we ignored this and tried to play it out anyway. Skrtel received the ball once or twice on our actual end line from a goal kick. He then shunted it back to Mingolet and we lost possession. I presume that's our philosophy and Mingolet is told to give it short from a goal kick but if the pass isn't on then he needs to make the decision to kick it long.

As for Modo, I couldn't care less if he stays or goes. He always strikes me of a poster who favours individuals (his chosen pets) over the team. His posting style irked me. Very childish in nature. Plus he hates Carragher which still strikes me as weird.

There was a lot of boredom in Modo's aimless spats. It reminded me of when the dreaded Rashid used to start those mind-numbingly awful 'allow me to make a case for...' threads, usually about an exotic-sounding foreign player whom we would never get, and a couple of hours later he'd be inviting people to 'step outside' (all the way to St Albans, presumably) because they'd not agreed with him.

[Speaking of Rashid:

Rashid ‏@HRashid_ 21h21 hours ago
@RS51DHU @AnfieldHQ96 Our signings under Rodgers should be made punishable by death. Rodgers and Comittee absolutely clueless.

Rashid on twitter amuses me. In a way his forum persona provided the template for twitter, given he was constantly hyperbolic and outraged at everything, so on twitter he's a little lost in a sea of shouty people.

edit: also his Twitter bio describes himself as 'honest and blunt' which is the equivalent to wearing a placard which simply says 'Bellend'.

The issue seems to be that you have one easily wound up poster on this forum, who can't ignore people as he's a moderator, so instead he verbally abuses them and whines until something happens, and all discussion comes to a grinding halt.

I'm not angry, I'm disappointed.

Just to set the record straight about this, because inevitably this would happen. I categorically said, "I don't want Modo banned". I said this a couple of months ago too, when the topic was raised, and a fellow mod warned him instead. His response to this was that he would lurk and not post. He started posting again, which was fine.

I tried to be civil with him and discussed stuff normally with him. He then descended into the usual trolling and snide comments through threads, gradually inclining until it because disruptive (it wasn't just me that recognised this, but two other mods). If you think I'm wrong for arguing with him, then fine, others seem content to let him run riot and say what he likes and disrupt threads continuously, while other genuinely affable lads on here have become disgruntled because of his behaviour.

As for your last comment about me "whining until something happens". Give me an example of this. I've never banned anyone (apart from Mr John) and I've never requested that anyone be banned on here, the only person I've consistently pointed out as being disruptive is Modo (and latterly Mr John, because he was).

He was banned by another Mod this time, three months ago a different Mod wanted to ban him and another mod warned him - I asked then that he "not" be banned. He can't really argue the toss, because he's had enough warnings about it, like I said though I'd rather he didn't get banned and it's only temporary anyway, so we'll see what happens when he returns and if/when he starts acting up, I'll happily remind you of this conversation, but until then, let him get over it. Just don't make bollocks assumptions.

And if you'd cared to take notice of the 3 or 4 posts he made on the EXACT SAME PAGE where you made this comment, you might see why he was getting peoples backs up for deliberately goading.

Has anyone commented on Mingolet kicking out the ball for a corner to Chelsea with his last kick of the game??

It was horrendous. The ref blew the full time whistle and saved his blushes.
Yes that was quite laughable really.

Thanks for clarifying Mark. It's been clear to all of us for some time that you and Modo get on really well, and that buddiness has manifested itself lovingly in many threads. A real breath of fresh air around this site in dreary times.

Personally I think Modo can make some good posts but it's outweighed by his constant trolling. I'd bet my house that outside of SCM he's a really sound guy and I'd easily meet him for a few pints.

But the trolling is becoming boring now and I don't think a wee break from SCM will do him any harm.

It's an internet forum, with adults. Grow the fuck up. If you don't like what someone's saying, tell them to fuck off or ignore them.

This. How some people can get so wound up is beyond belief. Grow a pair.

I've been in favour of banning Modo for a while, not because he particularly annoys me or that I can't ignore him, but because it's so patently what he deserves. The guy spends 90% of his time on here basically deliberately baiting other posters and bogging threads down in bickering. It's a cunt's behaviour. If you really feel devoted to an ultra laissez-faire approach to moderating, well fair enough, that is some kind of objection - although not one I've ever seen properly justified - but it's the idea that he doesn't deserve it that's annoyed me in the past.

The 'just ignore him' argument is weak, too. He's a troll. He covets and gets attention with provocative posts. The responses and subsequent bitching are even more of a problem than his posts, so in order to make the 'ignore' him approach work in those terms, almost all the people who are ever likely to respond to the vast majority of his posts would have to ignore him too, and the effect of that on Modo would be more or less the same as being banned anyway.

It's surely easier just to give him this ban and hope he takes the warning.

You make a good point Peter.

It was dear Vlad's evil twin, who split from him rather like Captain Kirk's did in that Star Trek episode. While Mr John raged and ranted, Vlad was left fragile and enervated, hence his over-long absence from here.

Yep, totally agree. It was the annoying manner in which he posted that really irked me. He admitted to giving Lallana grief one time because posters were having digs at Lucas. WTF?

Modo reminds me of one of those clowns you would see participating in a debate in the comments section of youtube.

Modo was getting far too much like Kaiser/Code72 in the last couple of months, to the point where I was genuinely wondering whether they were one and the same.

Code is currently Denny Crane on TLW (probably a few more as well). I don't think he is on here.
