Leicester Pre Match Thread (H)

What's the weather like in Liverpool? Any chance the match will be called off?

time_for_time.html

The forecast say it goes from 1/2 to 0/-1 so even if it is cold (we have 10-12 below zero) the pitch should handle that. Could be slippery outside though?

I'm sure Sky would love to televise 3pm kick-offs and "bin of the meaningless games" BUT THANKFULLY THEY AREN'T ALLOWED TO DO THAT FOR OBVIOUS FUCKING REASONS
It will kill lower League football ?

I very much doubt it.. 3pm kick offs are widely available and as it is, their is not as many of them now..

I think it will affect more than lower League football. The more football on tv 3 oclock the less People at the stands all over. And less People at the stands all over is bad for football.

I don't think you will get that issue in the modern day game...

There is no where near the amount of 3pm kickoffs that their used to be..

It will still affect the game. The game (around boradcasting/streaming etc - no other pun intended) is changing, but open up to "free" broadcasting of the 3 o'clock sat games will be a huge game changer. I think, that although they are not direct comparable it is enough to look at the different other leagues (and it goes for all sports, not only footie) who fell for the temptation that more broadcasting is the stairway to heaven and quickly found out that people were more lazy and stayed more home in front of the TV Box than tehy tought. And fair enough if the aim is that TV should pump more money into the game than i.e. gate receipts, but more empty stands, dull atmospheres etc is a killer for the productt.

Indeed, protecting (and cherishing) the match-day going fans is important for the product (the atmosphere they generate), but also for the local economy and identity of the area. It's culturally important to protect that, and 3pm kickoffs on a Saturday are part of it.

But equally retarded and greedy is the idea of skewing income and coverage to the big clubs by not showing "lesser" clubs at all, or encouraging club-specific season tickets, as that means the competition itself is unfair (even more than it already is), which is why I don't fully support Liverpool and United and the rest arguing they deserve even MORE of the broadcasting pot, because "nobody wants to watch Cardiff vs Burnley", and people only watch Burnley when they're playing Liverpool, City, United or Chelsea.

That logic is sound, but it doesn't make it right.

Sky and BT are forced to make some concessions to this, by guaranteeing every club a certain amount of games - despite the lower ratings such games generate - for the same, valid reasons. Parity, or at least a version of it is vital, as is genuine competition. Without sharing that money around, smaller clubs are fucked, unless - like City and Chelsea - some oil crook comes along.

(Even worse is the idea of another European Superleague, as if the Champions League wasn't enough).

If Liverpool beat Leicester just ONE team will have ever blown a bigger lead at this stage in the season (and yes, it was Kevin Keegan's Newcastle 'Entertainers')
- Daily Fail

Didn't United lead by 8 Points at City even later in the season?

Klopp said back in the Autumn that only Man City can beat Man City to the title, obviously meaning they needed to fuck this right up to not win it.... Seem like we are in the same position now. Normally Leicester should be worried coming here, but now all the pressure is at us to perform a result. Nothing is expected from them (unless Puel's fear for a real hammering ending in a sacking can transform to the players). It will be a big test for us to react in the right way, even with some key players out.

It's his own players who want him sacked.

More snow forecast 6 - 8 on the met office weather app.

It's rare (very rare), that we get 'proper' snow here in Liverpool, I wouldnt worry too much about it.

Yes, I'm fully aware that me writing that means we will get a 12 inch snowfall & blizzard like conditions.

Bag o fuckin nerves me. Left for work only to find an inch of snow had ground everything to halt, went back to bed to get warm and woke up five hours later. Oops. I'm leaving anyway so I can't get sacked.

Anyway. My stomach is doing the nervous rumble where I'll be shitting little bricks in an hour. At least every game is something to look forward to
