Great result. Terrifying last 10 minutes. Lovren and Mignolet tremendous performances.

Lallana with a terrific performance.

Benteke with a confusing performance but a winner.

Firmino anonymous again.

Great team effort overall. Can, Henderson and Moreno with tremendous pressing and work rate.

Great win

Much better from Firmino with a great assist

Lovren - Sakho were excellent

Good to see Benteke score, should have had one more

MOTM Lovren

We worked so hard for that, hope it doesn't cost us on Wednesday! A fit and firing Studge in that side and we would have won that at a canter. Hendo deserved mom

It sucks for Origi because he started the game well, but Benteke got the goal, he was poor besides from that. Henderson was our man of the match, even excluding that bizarre three on one situation. Lovren looked very good at the back, and despite his couple of mistakes, I'm encouraged by Sakho's partnership with him. Lallana was good again, he flies a little under the radar but he really helps us play. We were decent today and easily the better team, but make no mistake Leicester were poor, and the second game in three days was probably taking it's toll on their thin squad, this was an encouraging match, but we need to take it up another level against Sunderland.

Deserved win

FT: #LFC 1-0 Leicester
Total shots 25-7
Possession 62%-38%
Touches 716-454
Pass success 76%-56%
Total passes 507-272
Key passes 23-6

Lovren has been our most improved player since Klopp arrived. Good on him.

Thought Sakho looked very nervy in the first half.

Can and Henderson battled for 90 mins.

A bit better from Firmino, but he really needs to step up.

Usual from Lallana - loads of running, wasteful possession and no end product.

Moreno rivals Lovren for that title IMO. In either case it's good to see.

Let's agree to disagree about Lallana. 😉

I don't get this Leicester played badly lark, we never let them play and our pressing was much better today. It was a pretty good defensive performance from us

Not sure what the problem is TBH. They didn't play well because we didn't allow it.

Origi started very well and was a real threat. Shame he got injured. Let's hope it's not serious.
Hendo was everywhere today and was excellent bar the fuck up with the three on one fuck up.
Lovren was good as was Can.
I thought Sakho was often a goal threat today, once or twice on the Leicester goal as well.
Lallana was good, Firmino was better in the second half and worked hard but we need a lot more from him.
Continho was average.
Mignolet had his regulation flap at a cross.
Benteke won't be a Liverpool player for more than a season or two
We need to improve significantly if we are to make top four.
A fit Sturridge ( I know, lol) would go a long way towards that.

I'd say this is the type of performance that will have us challenging for top 4.
Clean sheet, hard work, good defensive organization and created chances.

There wasn't enough in there for me, sure we were partly the reason, but Leicester were nowhere near their best.

We lack goals in a very concerning manner without Studge.

There's no way we can reach any target if we not fix that quickly.

Obviously it won't happen but a goal scoring attacker in Jan would be one way to do it. The other is to get Firmino and Origi contributing or find a way to utilize Benteke so that he'd have more than one chance to score per game.

Anyway it's not looking good atm and it's going to be so difficult for us to win games with this set-up.

I like your optimism mate but I am not convinced that it was particularly good defensive display today.
Mignolet had to make more than a few smart saves, there were some shocking half clearances that went straight to a Leicester player giving them a chance to create and especially towards the end of the game, a number of balls were played into our box which could easily have resulted in a goal.
Sometimes you just have to shrug your shoulders and say it was one of those days when we concede, well thankfully today was one of those days when we simply didn't, probably more down to luck than design.

Maybe mate, it was certainly a step in the right direction. But as you say we're still our own worst enemy defensively.

This was very close to our full strength and potentially the first we have seen of Klopp using what I think will be his preferred formation:

-----------Mignolet----------
Clyne--Lovren--Sakho--Moreno
---------Hendo---Can---------
Lallana---Coutinho---Firmino
------------Benteke---------------

I think the only changes from our current squad that make it full strength are arguable Skrtel in for Lovren and Studge in for Benteke. I thought we dominated well, made a lot of half chances. Origi impressed me, however his awareness when in the box let him down a bit as I think he had opportunities to set up others when he decided to shoot. He is high on confidence though and I hope he isn't out for long.

Benteke clearly low on confidence as seen at the end but got a goal and hopefully that helps him come the next game where I expect him to start.

Firmino also looks low on confidence but still kept persevering and got the assist.

Lallana, Coutinho and Hendo were our best attacking players and Lovren looked a new man.

Really? I saw differently-- intelligent movement off the ball and was involved in the build up to the great [team] goal.

Agree about Lallana, caqn ande Henderson (whiffed pass aside). Lallana needs an end product, though. Also decent performances from Moreno, Clyne and Origi.

I think you and I saw the same match, Sire.

Super important win; now we are back in the top-4 conversation that we were in danger of dropping out of. 2 points behind United now and we are the first team who brought Leicester down to the ground a little bit. Onward and upward!

My ratings:

Mignolet 6.5 – made a great stop at a near post and a fairly routine on from Mahrez in the first half. Also composed with catching the ball. I wouldn't blame him for flapping at a corner, I think Lovren's touch took it away from him.
Clyne 6.5 – solid and hard-working as usual
Lovren 7.0 – overall very solid and starting to look like a leader, has he turned the corner? Bonus points for recovering from the injury so quickly and settling well in a less familiar RCB role.
Sakho 6.0 – much better than last game, but still some way off his best form. We all know how good he can be, the only question is are those injuries going to stop?
Moreno 6.0 – skinned cleanly by Mahrez at least 2 times, other than that OK.
Henderson 7.0 MOM – several absolutely sublime passes in midfield and what's especially pleasing is how quickly he makes those decisions, he seems to know what to do with the ball even before it comes to him. He learned it from Stevie, I'm sure. Too bad he didn't have the same composure in his 1 on 1, I thought he somehow was determined to pass even though it made more sense to accelerate and score. Still, he is some player and pretty much undroppable at this point.
Can 6.5 – combative, positive and saved a certain goal with his block near the end.
Lallana 6.5 – hard-working and elusive, back to his supporting player role that was effective against Man City. Just don't expect him to do all that and also score or create many goals.
Firmino 6.0 – his first full game as a Liverpool player, a game-winning assist and he always helped out on defense and pressing, even in the first half when most people said he was anonymous. Can do much more, but overall a positive step for him.
Coutinho 6.0 – maybe the birth of his first child affected his concentration; his instincts seems to be out of alignment at the moment. Tried hard, but more fussy than effective and you could see when he was coming off that he was far from satisfied.
Origi 6.5 – our best player along with Hendo until he was substituted. I told you guys not to give up on him early! Super potential and he'll be unplayable when he learns to convert chances better.
Benteke 5.5 – I had a positive feeling when he came on, I though he might convert one of the chances that maybe Origi might not and that's exactly what happened. But on the overall performance, he is clearly low on confidence and the comical miss at the end confirmed that. I think he's better than this performance; even early in his Liverpool career he had games when he was much more involved with flicks and passes, I think now he is still processing what Klopp is telling him to do and trying to readjust his game. His teammates also were not able (or willing) to adjust to a different type of striker coming on, several times Benteke got the pass that took him towards the wing – Origi would have turned the defender and crossed or cut in, but Benteke just looked surprised that he is asked to do something other than waiting for a cross inside the box.
Lucas, Allen n/a

Klopp 8.0 – ballsy team selection, of all the games to switch to a more attacking 4-2-3-1 formation he chose one against the league leaders. Let's see if it's there to stay, Hendo and Can look like a good budding midfield partnership, but you need a good level of defensive contribution from the front 4 to make it work and if Origi is injured that's difficult to achieve.

Perhaps I'm not being charitable enough to Firmino. He wasn't nearly as bad as he has been in some previous experiences but still doesn't look like the player we all got excited about upon his signing. His passing (except for the goal) was poor and he looks like he is snatching at chances - I wonder if he is still struggling for conditioning and a bit too eager to get rid of the ball.

That said I'm nowhere near writing him off yet and still expect much more to come. It might just take a bit to arrive

I really like how we shut down their counterattacking game right from the go. We weren't afraid to take a few niggly little fouls to put the breaks on and I think that bit of cynicism has been missing a lot. We are often far too naive and let opponents play their game.

Was thrilled to see us battering Vardy about whenever the ball neared him. Think that went a long way towards wearing them out.
